The police broke into Mr.Yang Zhanjiu's home and also arrested other two Falun Gong practitioners who were visiting him. Six years ago, his wife lost an eyeball when tortured by the police and died in the detention center.

On March 5, 2010, Mr. Yang Zhanjiu from Yushu City, Jilin Province, and his parents-in-law were illegally arrested by the Domestic Security Team of Yushu City Police Department. On the same day, the police, who waited inside Mr. Yang's home, also arrested two other practitioners who went to visit him. Mr. Yang's wife, Ms. Li Shuhua, was brutally tortured to death in a detention center six years ago. Those responsible are still at large.

At around noon on March 5, Fan Hongkai, Captain of the Domestic Security Team, along with Deputy Li Xiao, Yang Shucai, Political Instructor Yan Chongjie, and Officers Shi Hailin, Qi Li, Li Chunhe, and Li Zaichen, went to Mr. Yang Zhanjiu's home. When Mr. Yang's father-in-law, Mr. Li Fumin, opened the door, the police forced their way in and handcuffed Mr. Yang. They ransacked his home and confiscated a laptop, a desktop, three printers, recorders, a laminator, a paper cutter, and other personal belongings.

Meanwhile, police officers Qi Li and Li Zaichen stayed there to lay an ambush. At about 5:00 p.m., when practitioners Mr. Su Yucai and Mr. Li Guofeng arrived at the home, they were arrested and taken to the station for interrogation. When both practitioners refused to cooperate with the police, Fan Hongkai, Li Xiao, and Yang Shucai hit them on the face and feet. Then Fan Hongkai and Yan Chongjie went to Mr. Su Yucai's home and ransacked it. Both Mr. Su and Mr. Li Guofeng have been transferred to a detention center.

Seven years ago, on September 24, 2003, Jiang Wei and others from the city police department broke into Mr. Yang Zhanjiu's home and forcibly took his wife Ms. Li Shuhua to a detention center because she practiced Falun Gong. She was tortured daily. The guards tried to suffocate her by covering her head with a plastic bag; stabbed her fingertips, arms, back, and chest area with a large needle; and punched her so hard in the eyes that one of her eyeballs came out of its socket. Ms. Li's agonizing screams could be heard throughout the detention center. She eventually lost consciousness and died there on October 8, 2003. Those involved in her death have never been brought to justice. They are: Li Fenglin, director of the 610 Office; Fan Hongguan, city police chief; Zhang Deqing, captain of the domestic security team; Gong Tie, director of the detention center; and guards Wang Jun, Sun, and Li.
