Mr. Wang status as a lawyer himself seems to make no difference in his right, or lack thereof, to an attorney.
May 13, 2010 begins her fourth detention since 1999.
Lawyer Held for Practicing Falun Gong; His Attorney Fired for Visiting Him
Mr. Wang Zhansuo is a lawyer from the Hengxintong Law Firm in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Prior to relocating to Qingdao, he had served as a deputy presiding judge at the Intermediate Court of Agriculture Division 7, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
More than ten agents from Huangdao District 610 Office and from Changjianglu Police Station arrested him for practicing Falun Gong. His arrest and that of family members happened the night of March 4, 2010. Changjiang Police Station transferred Wang Zhansuo's case to Xuejiadao Police Station in late March. Huangdao District Procuratorate issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Wang in mid-April before receiving the case from Xuejiadao Police Station at the end of May. He is presently being held in the District Detention Center.
Mr. Wang's defense attorney requested a meeting with him, but 610 Office agents and those at the local police department denied his request. In May, Mr. Wang asked to be released on parole so he could attend a family member's funeral, only to have his request categorically denied. When his defense attorney visited Huangdao District Procuratorate on June 7, officials did not allow him to review the case, but agreed to a meeting with Mr. Wang in the detention center.
However, when his attorney and another local lawyer rushed to the detention center, they were told they couldn't see their client. The detention center had reported their arrival to the 610 Office. The 610 Office then pressured Huangdao District Judicial Bureau to let the firm fire the local lawyer. He lost his job for merely accompanying Mr. Wang's attorney to the detention center.
When the attorney questioned 610 Office as to why he was not allowed to see his client, a staff member openly declared, "We will not allow any attorney involvement in this case; otherwise, we can't achieve our goal."
Ms. Dong Wencai Sent to
Force Labor Camp for Talking About Falun Gong
On the afternoon of May 13, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dong Wencai was arrested by Guo Junxue, Zhang Baozhong and others from the Domestic Security Team of Xiong County Police Department, while she was out in Xihouliu Village, Xiong County, Hebei Province.
Ms. Zhang Guizhen and Ms. Zhang Lanfen were also arrested on the same day. The reason for their arrest was because they had been seen talking to people about Falun Gong in Yuanjiayuan Village a month earlier. At around 7:00 p.m that evening, they were all detained in Xiong County Detention Center, and then were taken to Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp the same evening. On the afternoon of May 14, 2010, Ms. Dong Wencai and Ms. Zhang Guizhen were sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Since the persecution began in 1999, Ms. Dong has been sentenced to forced labor three times.
She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, and since then her family and co-workers have seen tremendous improvements in her character, as she tries to become a better person in accordance with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Ms. Dong used to be obsessed with playing Mahjong and had endless conflicts with her family. Since practicing Falun Gong, she understood that it was important to have good relationships with others and that it was not right to gamble. When Ms. Dong started to become more considerate of others, the relationship with her family became more harmonious.
When Ms. Dong worked as a cook in Xiong County, she was highly thought of by her colleagues, as she used to prepare good food for everyone and never took even a penny that did not belong to her.
The CCP started its ruthless campaign to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, so Ms. Dong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October. She was arrested and detained for several months. Then, in 2000 she was taken to Baoding Forced Labor Camp.
In order to avoid being arrested again, Ms. Dong was forced to become homeless in 2002. But, at around 10:00 p.m. on July 31, 2002, police officers from Xiong County forced their way into the room that she was renting to arrest her and two other practitioners, who were visiting her at the time. She was then sent to a forced labor camp again.
The CCP sent Ms. Dong Wencai for their so-called "re-education" through forced labor several times, causing serious harm and a great deal of distress to her family.
