Falun Dafa Association of Canada held a press conference in the Charles Lynch conference room at Parliament yesterday. Our purpose was to encourage the Canadian government to back the US resolution on China being presented at the UN Human rights Commission currently underway in Geneva. MP Rob Anders and Senator Consiglio Di Nino co-sponsored the conference and each spoke on the issue. A short
description of the current situation of Falun Dafa in China was presented and two books detailing individual practitioner's horrific experiences in china were released.
"I sincerely hope that the Canadian government will back the United States resolution against Chinese human rights abuses", said Mr. Rob Anders.
"There is nothing wrong with having friends that we disagree with, what is wrong and what our country is not doing, is telling the friend we disagree on some issues. As a matter of fact, Clinton did this with Jiang Zemin?." said Senator Di Nino.
While the press conference was occurring inside, over one hundred Falun Gong practitioners peacefully demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises to the public on the lawn in front of the parliament buildings. Also, Canadian Falun Gong practitioners who recently went to China shared their experiences and mistreatment in China with reporters.
"The police asked my parents to choose between losing their jobs and persuading me to denounce Falun Gong", said Mr. Xueye Zhu, during his interview with a reporter.
"When my husband and I were at a friend's home celebrating a public holiday together, the police barged in, detained us, and interrogated us for the whole night", said Ms. Jingyu Li, describing her mistreatment to a reporter.
