During the nine-year suppression of Falun Gong, Mr. Tian Shaochun was arrested many times. He was sentenced to forced labor for two years. The police tortured him to the brink of death. On June 3, 2008, police arrested Mr. Tian Shaochun and brutally tortured him again. After the Forced Labor Camp denied to accept him for health reasons, he decided to avoid further persecution and live in exile.

Not long after the Olympics ended, Falun Gong practitioner You Quanming and his wife, Ms. Xiao Danfeng were illegally sentenced to three and five years respectively. Their daughter, You Xuechun, wanted to visit them during her summer vacation but authorities denied her request.

Oct. 14

Ms. Tang Liwen, a 68-year old Falun Gong, has been in jail for nine months. Her health and mental state have been devastated. She was sentenced to seven years in prison on September 26, 2008.

Oct. 15

Wang is told he can be released for medical care only after his injuries have healed sufficiently to avoid "bad publicity.

On July 19, 2008 Li Guisheng of the Jing County Political Protection Department, Liu, and some officers from the Public Security Bureau arrested Ms. Cui Junfang, her daughter, and her mother because they practice Falun Gong. During the time Ms. Cui was in detention, she lost a tremendous amount of weight. Only after her family paid the police 5000 yuan was she released and allowed to return home.

Oct. 16

Ms. Zhang Xiangling is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yongnian County, Hebei Province. On August 19, 2008, the police in Handan City, Hebei Province broke into her home and illegally arrested her. She is still in detention.

Oct. 18

Ms. Zhang Peilan, 60, was arrested earlier in 2008 and released just before her death on Oct.7.

Oct. 19

Mr. Wei Danquan, a former PLA Navy officer, has been abducted, imprisoned and tortured on different occasions since 2001, due to he refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. Throughout the years the persecution has caused his health to deteriorate in critical condition, but in August, CCP authorities jailed him again after sentencing him to four years in prison.
