(Clearwisdom.net) On September 6, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners in Finland held an informational event near the Helsinki city centre, appealing to the general public to help end the nine year long brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, distributed leaflets, and collected signatures calling for an end to the persecution.

There were lots of people out walking and many came to see the Falun Gong exercise demonstration and read the display boards. Many people also signed the petition condemning the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong, calling for its immediate end. There were also warm cries of "Falun Gong! Falun Gong!" This was the friendly response by Finnish people to the persistent efforts by the practitioners to explain the truth to the public for many years.
Ms Petra is an artist. After reading the display boards for a long time, she came to sign the petition condemning the persecution. She also carefully read the statements on the petition and told practitioners that she went to China in 1997 and saw many people practicing Falun Gong there. She felt very sad about this brutal persecution.
After listening to practitioner Xiao Wang talk about the atrocity of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in China, two young fashionably dressed students, Maria and Julia, said that they didn't know that such terrible things were happening. This could only have occurred in a horror movie. They said, "Please tell your friends in China who practice Falun Gong to come to Finland. This is a free country." When they heard that the parents of a practitioner who is currently studying in Finland are being illegally detained in a prison in Wuhan because they don't want to give up practicing Falun Gong, Maria and Julia said: "You can speak out freely here. Please quickly rescue them to Finland. Here they can have their beliefs." Afterwards both signed the petition. They also inquired about the exercise site and said they wanted to learn Falun Gong.
Samuli is a high school student. He took out a book from his bag and said to
practitioners, "This is my textbook (one of the two books Finnish students
have to study in high school about belief and religion). There is a chapter
introducing Falun Gong." From this book, he had already learned about Falun
Gong and the persecution.
