Clearwisdom Weekly Persecution News - April 13 ~ 18, 2009

April 19, 2009 |

Apr. 13

Ms. Song Chang was forced to have an abortion by the police. Within twenty days, Ms. Song was arrested again and tortured in a detention center. Now she is facing a trial by the CCP court.

During the CCP's "two conferences" period, the police ransacked Ms. He's house with a blank search warrant, and then arrested her for her keeping Falun Gong materials at home. On March 16, 2009 she was sentenced to three years of forced labor.

Apr. 14

The police assumed Ms. Liu Xiufang and her husband had installed a small loudspeaker to clarify the truth about Falun Gong, so they arrested and tortured the family, and then even extorted money from the landlord.

Apr. 15

Ms. Liu was imprisoned in the 1st Detention Center of Guangshui City and detained from February 8 to April 2, 2009. She was released in critically ill condition and died two days later.

Apr. 16

Another example of the conflict between persecuting Falun Gong and trying to establish (at least the appearance of) a proper legal system.

The Falun Gong practitioners are beaten but do not renounce their belief.

Apr. 18

A 70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner's health declines dramatically while imprisoned.

In an unprecedented event, several of the accused Falun Gong practitioners were released after trail. While the quality of 'show trials' given practitioners has been improving, with some practitioners allowed legal representation, trials always end with the sentencing of practitioners regardless of the charges or evidence.

Clearwisdom.net and its Chinese-language sister-website (minghui.ca) provide first-hand reports about the horrors of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Dozens of reports are received every day from the victims of torture, the wrongfully imprisoned, and families crippled by the senseless hardship and grief for their loved ones imposed by the persecution. In contrast, the websites also report positive news and events from the more than 80 countries around the world where Falun Gong is practiced, and serve as an online forum for practitioners to share stories of the good things Falun Gong has brought to their lives.
