(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Jianlin, 29, is a resident of Xijintaidongbei Village, Shibu Town, Changyi City, Shandong. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997 after seeing his parents improve their health through practicing. His father used to have severe spinal problems before he practiced, but he soon recovered after he began to practice. When the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong, however, Mr. Li's parents were mistreated many times by the authorities because they insisted on continuing the practice.
When Mr. Li's mother, Ms. Li Xiufen, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 1999, she was arrested and held at the 13th Security Division's Prison in Beijing. Prison guards tortured her for forty days because she did not tell them her name. They brutally beat her three times a day, punching her in the face and chest, and striking her with batons. As a result, the area from her buttocks to her knees turned purple. They stripped her down to her underwear, and left her outside in the freezing cold. She was deprived of sleep, and was injected with unknown drugs at a mental hospital for eight days.
Mr. Li Huiqiang, Mr. Li Jianlin's father, had his motor vehicle confiscated by police officer Zhai Jiantao in the spring of 2000. He was forced to pay 2000 yuan before they allowed him to collect it.
Five officers led by Guan Guofeng went to Mr. Li's home on January 11, where they arrested him and his family. They were detained at the township Family Planning Office for more than four months and had 3,200 yuan extorted from them. During their detention, they were tortured in many ways, including being kicked, beaten, whipped, and deprived of sleep. In addition, officer Wei Tiankui stripped Mr. Li Huiqiang down to his underwear in the winter time and made him suffer in the cold.
When Mr. Li Jianlin’s family was preparing for the Chinese New Year on December 28, 2000, four police officers arrested him and his parents, putting a great deal of stress on his grandparents. Mr. Li stopped Wei Tiankui from slandering Falun Gong’s founder in the police station, and was then severely beaten by Wei for doing so. Mr. Li’s mouth was bleeding and his teeth were knocked loose. His parents were also brutally beaten.
His mother was forced to stay away from home in late 2002, in order to avoid further persecution.
Police officers from Changyi arrested Mr. Li Huiqiang on March 28, 2005, and later took him to the Wangcun Labor Camp for two years.
On May 17, 2009, police officers broke into Mr. Li’s home and confiscated their Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials. They asked his father about his and his mother's whereabouts.
Mr. Li Jianlin was forced to stay away from home for many years to avoid persecution. He was arrested by the police at the Hanting District Coal Market in Weifang City on March 18, 2010. He was held at the Weifang Detention Center, where he was handcuffed and had his feet in shackles. He was force-fed and brutally beaten. In October 2010, Mr. Li Jianlin was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and was taken to the Jinan Prison. His family members were not notified.
