(Minghui.org) As a result of Heilongjiang Women's Prison new round of torture of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Sun Fengjie from Shuangyashan has lost 20 kilograms (over 40 pounds) within a month and is now unrecognizable.
In advance of the 18th Congressional Conference of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the prison started a new round of persecution of practitioners who refused to give up their belief. The head of the 610 Office and captains of different groups within the prison transferred Falun Gong practitioners who refused to “transform” into the 9th District for intensified persecution. The guards bribed criminal prisoners to monitor practitioners one-on-one. They did not allow practitioners to sleep and forced them to sit on small plastic stools for as long as 14 hours every day. During this time, the practitioners also suffered additional physical and verbal abuse.

Ms. Sun has now been illegally detained in Heilongjiang Women's Prison for 10 years and has suffered inhuman torture. Ms. Sun and Wang Guanrong (who died as a result of persecution in April 2009) were arrested on December 7, 2002. They were tortured, interrogated, and sentenced to 13 years in prison. The day before the 2003 mid-Autumn Festival, Ms. Sun was taken to Heilongjiang Women's Prison. At first she was detained in an “intensified training group.” Later, she was taken to the 2nd Prison District.
At around 10 a.m. on July 3, 2012, when Ms. Sun's husband came to visit her, she was still in the 2nd District. Later, because she refused to “transform,” she was taken to the 9th District, along with other practitioners who also refused to give up their belief. When her sisters came to visit her, they were not allowed to see her. Her older sister then tried to look for the prison supervisor, but the reply was, “The supervisor is not around.” The prison authorities then claimed that an inspection group was coming to the prison to force the sisters to leave.
At around 9 a.m. on September 7, Sun Fengjie's husband, following prison regulations, arrived at the hall to sign up for a family visit. The staff person in charge of registration called the 9th District and announced her husband, but there was no reply from the 9th District. He asked the policewoman at the reception area, “How come there is no reply?” The policewoman told him to wait. A few minutes later, the person in charge of the 9th District called and said, “She is not allowed family visits.”
Sun Fengjie's husband protested, saying, “Last time Sun Fengjie's sisters came to visit her, you said she had been transferred to the 9th District. Fridays are family visiting days for the 9th District. In the past, the 2nd District had family visits each month on Tuesdays. Last time, we were told to come here on Friday for family visits. Today is visiting day. Why I am not allowed to see her? I must see her today.” The guard said, “The captain of the 9th District will be here soon to talk to you. Just wait.” Ms. Sun's husband knew that they were stalling, so he asked, “When is the captain going to be here?” The answer: “That is hard to tell.” It was already 10 a.m.. According to prison regulations, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. is the lunch hour, after which family visits are over.
Ms. Sun's husband found the supervisor for the Prison Politics Branch and asked for a family visit. The person in charge said, “You should talk to the 610 Office in the prison. They are in charge of Falun Gong practitioners.” Her husband, who is elderly, then went to the fourth floor where the 610 Office is located and tried to reason with them. The woman in charge, referred to as “director Guo,” said that she would discuss the matter with the prison head and asked him to wait. Ms. Sun's husband waited for another 30 minutes. Director Guo told him, “I called the captain of the 9th District. You can see her. But if you also practice Falun Gong, you cannot see her.” Then she asked Ms. Sun's husband if he was a practitioner. He told her, “Good will be rewarded, bad will receive retribution.” Director Guo said, “Sounds like a Falun Gong practitioner.” Ms. Sun's husband did not answer her question.
After a great deal of trouble, Ms. Sun's husband finally got to see her. He could not hold back his tears once he saw his wife. He could hardly recognize her. She looked like a skeleton and could barely walk or stand. Her hair was very long and half of it had turned grey. Her ribs could be seen clearly, and she had completely lost the spirit that she used to have during past visits.
During the 30 minutes of conversation between the couple, their phone call was interrupted twice by the guards. Her husband saw Sun Fengjie talking to the guards with a serious expression. After the conversation was resumed, she told him, “My health is very poor. I want to tell you to bring me some medicine. I recently lost 20 kg.” She appeared very upset and told him, “From now on, you should come to see me once a month. Do you understand what I mean?” He said, “I understand.”
Sun Fengjie told her husband that she was constantly deprived of sleep. Every day she has to sit on a small stool for 14 hours. In the cell she usually has no freedom of movement.
Ms. Sun and many others are suffering severe persecution. All the Falun Gong practitioners in Heilongjiang Women's Prison who refused to “transform” are currently suffering inhuman persecution.
We sincerely hope that people inside and outside of China will help stop the evil deeds of the CCP. We hope that Falun Gong practitioners all over the world will use their righteous thoughts to disintegrate and eliminate the evil that persecutes Falun Gong practitioners and rescue practitioners including Sun Fengjie, Hu Qili, Wang Lihua, and Xu Qilan. We hope to get them out of prison soon!
