(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Fu Guiying and Ms. Deng Liangchun are from Linyi in Shandong Province. They were sentenced by the Lanshan District judicial system on October 8, 2012, Ms. Fu to seven years and Ms. Deng to nine. They were transferred to the Shandong Women's Prison on March 14, 2013, after being held for nine months in the Linyi City Detention Center. They are currently being subjected to “First Class Rigorous Control.”
Ms. Fu Guiying, 44, lives in Zhujiawa Village, Fangqian Township, Junan County, Linyi. Prior to practicing Falun Gong, she was considered a “tough woman” by acquaintances. After she started practicing, she followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She regained physical and mental health and now gets along well with with her family and in-laws. Ms. Deng Liangchun, 54, is from the mountainous area in Linyi. Her illnesses also disappeared after she started practicing Falun Gong. She is very kind.
Arrested and Tried
Ms. Deng and Ms. Fu were arrested by Wulibao Police Station officers in the Miaozhuang Neighborhood area in the Lanshan District of Linyi on June 6, 2012, then transferred to the Domestic Security Division in the same district. They were then held and abused in the Linyi Detention Station. Ms. Fu and Ms. Deng were visiting friends in the Miaozhuang Neighborhood area at the time of their arrest, and there was no apparent reason for them to be taken into custody.
Although their families hired lawyers to defend them, the Linyi judicial system ignored the law and lied repeatedly to the families and lawyers in order to prevent them from defending their clients. Secretly tried in Linyi Court on October 8, 2012, Ms. Deng was sentenced to seven years in prison, and Ms. Fu to nine. Their Beijing defense lawyers and local citizens were shocked at their sentences, since long prison terms are rarely given--even nationwide. Police transferred Ms. Fu and Ms. Deng to the Shandong Women's Prison on the morning of March 14, 2013, without notifying their families.
Imprisoned
Their families visited them at the prison on March 18, 2013, and found Ms. Fu emaciated, weak, and barely able to walk. Prior to her incarceration, she stood tall, was quite strong, and had a healthy complexion. She now weighed about 50 kilograms (110 lbs), with a lot of grey hair and a yellowish complexion. She looked at least 60.
While in prison, Ms. Fu maintained steadfast belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, refusing to write a guarantee statement denouncing her beliefs. The prison has since put her under “first class rigorous control.” She has not been allowed to use bathroom tissue or brush her teeth.
Ms. Fu's family and friends were both angry and saddened by this inhumane treatment. They were shocked that the prison openly ignored the law and basic human rights to this extreme extent. They are also deeply worried about the effects of this treatment on Ms. Fu.
Ms. Deng is also being subjected to “first class rigorous control,” since she also refused to write a guarantee statement.
Ms. Fu and Ms. Deng's families are preparing to submit an appeal to upper level officials over the brutal persecution imposed upon these women in the prison.
