(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ping Yurong has been persecuted at the Tianjin Women's Jail for the past five years. She has been subjected to relentless torture, and as a result her health has deteriorated. She has developed severe pleural effusion accompanied by a low-grade fever. A doctor removed 1.5 liters of accumulated liquid from her body and found that one side of her chest has a separation. The doctor said that her situation is very dangerous and she should be treated immediately. Her family requested medical parole, but the jail claims that her situation does not qualify.
The family hired two lawyers from Beijing for Ms. Ping. The lawyers went to Tianjin Women's Jail to see Ms. Ping on April 26, 2013. They asked for Ms. Ping's medical records, which complies with the law. However, the jail officers violated the Criminal Procedure Law, Prison Law, and the relevant lawyer regulations by not allowing the lawyers to see their client. The lawyers were also not allowed to view Ms. Pings' medical records at Xinsheng Hospital.
The lawyers and Ms. Ping's family repeatedly tried to communicate with the jail and the hospital, but with no success. One of the jail directors (female), with the police badge number 1210005, ordered several guards to drive the family and the lawyers out of the jail. Other jail personnel involved in this case include jail directors Feng Li and Ma Zhenhai, jail political section head Sun Yan, a police officer responsible for Ms. Ping with last name of Wang, and Xinsheng Hospital's political department head Wang with police badge number 121059, and medical services department director Jiao (female).
The jail authorities were in cahoots with Xinsheng Hospital. Ms. Ping's family and the lawyers went to the jail at 2:40 p.m. on April 26. The lawyers gave political section head Sun Yan the relevant legal documents. Sun said that families cannot hire lawyers for Ms. Ping as she has to agree with it herself. So the family and lawyers asked to see Ms. Ping, but the jail officer wouldn't let the family see her in person. Someone with the last name Wang, who claimed to be the head captain of where Ms. Ping was detained, showed a video at around 5:40 p.m., showing Ms. Ping looking very pale and saying with a very weak voice that she didn't want to see her family or hire a lawyer. This did not make any sense at all and it is obvious that Ms. Ping was being intimidated and threatened by the jail and the hospital.
Ms. Ping's family and friends are very worried about her condition. The families have requested medical parole many times and the jail always responds with “only when someone is about die is he or she eligible for medical parole.”
Ms. Ping is 59 years old and from Lutai Town, Ninghe County, Tianjin City. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she became very healthy and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Everyone around her knew that she was a good person. Because she continued practicing Falun Gong despite the persecution, she was arrested many times by the Chinese Communist regime and was detained in police stations, brainwashing centers, and forced labor camps over three years. This time she was sentenced to seven years and detained in Tianjin Women's Jail in Lingzhuangzi, Tianjin. From 1999 to now, over 14 years, Ms. Ping has been detained for total of 10 years. She had been tortured many times with methods including forced feeding, and has had her terms extended many times.
