(Minghui.org) Ms. Lin Songtao was working at her family-run kindergarten when four plainclothes officers showed up at 9:00 a.m. on November 21, 2013, and told her that they were from the domestic security department of Jinlin City. They took her to an unmarked car before she had a chance to put on her overcoat and drove her to a brainwashing center located in the Yulin Economic Committee’s guest house.
That same day, Ms. Lin’s husband and her 70-year-old father went to the brainwashing center to ask that she be released. They heard several people beating Ms. Lin in a locked room. Ms. Lin cried out for help.
When the two men knocked on the door, no one answered, so Ms. Lin’s father kicked the door open to stop the police brutalizing his daughter. Accusing them of "disturbing the social order," 610 Office agent Li Fenglin told the police to arrest Ms. Lin’s husband and father.
Ms. Lin’s father suffered a heart condition in detention, but officer Li Fenglin refused to let him go home. Family members had to get medicine and gave him injections in jail. After strong family demands, they finally let the old man see a doctor. Before he was released, the police had his nephew sign a statement agreeing not to bother the police and not to appeal again.
Since Ms. Lin Songtao refused to comply with the authorities, she was transferred to Shahezi Brainwashing Center in Jilin City on November 23. Her husband, Mr. Jiao Shouxian, remained in the detention center.
In another incident, on November 21 at 10 a.m., four officials went to the clothing shop owned by practitioner Ms. Feng Liping and carried her to a car. When her husband, Mr. Li, tried to stop them, Ms. Feng escaped. They arrested Mr. Li instead and took him to a detention center.
