(Minghui.org) A man retired from a state-owned enterprise in Hunan Province has not received a penny of his pension for 12 years. In order to make ends meet, the 63-year-old has been forced to work odd jobs. In March, however, the local 610 Office staff forced his employer to terminate him.
In addition, Mr. Wang Qingsheng, a Falun Gong practitioner retired from Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group, has been arrested and detained three times in the first four months of 2014, during which his home was also ransacked repeatedly.
In the morning on February 25, Mr. Wang was stopped by Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group security officers Xie Xiongzi and Zhang Ji. When Mr. Wang told them he was on his way to work, they insisted he tell them who his new employer was before they let him go.
On March 1, Mr. Wang's employer demanded his resignation, saying that it was because he was over 60 and that the local department of labor had denied him labor insurance. Mr. Wang learned later that this was a direct result of pressure from the Xiangtan City 610 Office. His manager told him, “The truth is, your colleagues and I don't want you to leave.”
Once a first-class honor recipient for rescuing a co-worker from a dangerous accident, Mr. Wang was sentenced to nine years in prison in February 2002 simply because he practiced Falun Gong.
Since he returned home in 2011, the security staff of his former company (a state-owned enterprise) and the city 610 Office have never ceased harassing him.
The recent arrests occurred on April 8, 10, and 16 because local authorities were afraid that Mr. Wang would go to Beijing to protest on behalf of Falun Gong on the 15th anniversary of the April 25, 1999, peaceful demonstration. Mr. Wang's computer was confiscated on April 29, even though the police didn't find any files that would qualify the device as evidence.
