(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Yongqiang and his wife, both Falun Gong practitioners in Wuhan, were illegally arrested at their home by police from Xingou Town on May 15, 2014. Mr. Wang's younger brother Mr. Wang Yonggang, also a practitioner, was arrested at his home the same day. Both homes were ransacked by police. The arrests were ordered by the Wuhan Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC). Mr. Wang's wife was later released.
Family's Harmonious Life Destroyed
Mr. Wang Yongqiang and his father Mr. Wang Shuli, also a practitioner, were employed by the Hebaohu Farm. Mr. Wang's wife worked at the Hebaohu Yarn Plant, and his brother worked at the Hebaohu MSG (monosodium glutamate) Plant. They went to Beijing in 2000, to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. They were arrested and returned to Wuhan, where they were illegally detained and forced to undergo frequent brainwashing sessions.
Mr. Wang Shuli, who served in the Korean War, had his pension withheld by the Hebaohu Farm because of his arrest. Mr. Wang Yongqiang and his wife were fired after being arrested, and had to work odd jobs to make a living.
Mr. Wang Yongqiang's home has been monitored for years. The people monitoring them even chopped down a tree in front of the house because it blocked their view.
The Wang family was always questioned by people from the Xingou Town Residential Committee or police after they were visited by relatives or friends. They were also followed when they went shopping or visited others. They were often harassed by officers from the local Domestic Security Division and agents from the 610 Office.
Daughter Suffered Mental Collapse Due to Persecution
Mr. Wang Yongqiang's eldest daughter Ms. Wang Yu was arrested in 2009 at the age of 18, for distributing Shen Yun DVDs. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor at the Hewan Women's Drug Rehabilitation Center in Wuhan. The guards put unknown drugs into her food.
Ms. Wang Yu was later transferred to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center, where unknown substances were put into her food and water, which resulted in her having a mental collapse. She was released in 2010. She speaks incoherently, is often in a daze, and giggles for no reason. She sometimes leaves home and disappears for days.
