(Minghui.org) A total of 677 people from Junan County signed a petition calling for the release of Ms. Liu Li and Ms. Wang Xixia by July 31, 2014. Soon after, officers from the Junan County 610 Office, Domestic Security Division and each of the local police stations went to the local villages to threaten the residents and demanded that they withdraw their signatures.
Police Continue Harassment and Arrests
Officers from the Junan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, Xianggou Village Police Station and party secretary Zhang Dingnong from the Sanyi Residential Committee broke into Ms. Liu Huaifeng's home at around 7 p.m. on August 1, 2014. They wanted to arrest her, but didn't dare because there were too many people in her home.
The same group broke into Ms. Liu Xia's home, Ms. Liu Huaifeng's elder sister, and ransacked it that evening. They confiscated her Dafa books and then took her to the Junan Detention Center.
The same group of officials and officers went to Zhaojiahezi Village in Shizilu Town on August 3, 2014. They harassed each family that signed the petition and wanted to know who was responsible for getting the signatures.
They also went to the villages of Dongfeng, Donglianwangya, and Xilianwangya to find out who was responsible for the signature drive.
They arrested Ms. Kong Linghong from Xilianwangya Village and took her to the Junan County Detention Center.
These officials and officers also went to the Zhaojiahezi, Xujiahuangzhuang, Mengjiahuangzhang, Lianwangya, Bailongwang villages on August 4, 2014. They forced around 100 families to sign or put their fingerprints on documentation declaring their withdrawal of their support for Ms. Liu Li and Ms. Wang Xixia's release.
Background
Ms. Liu and Ms. Wang, from Junan County, Linyi City, were illegally arrested on the morning of January 16, 2014, for distributing Falun Gong truth clarification materials in Ganyu County, Lianyungang City. They have been held at the Xishan Village Detention Center in Lianyungang for over six months.
677 people from Junan County recently signed a petition asking for their release.
