(Minghui.org) Ms. Yao Bingfang from Junan County in Shandong Province was sentenced to a forced labor camp twice for a total of three years. In July 2013, she suddenly suffered severe hemorrhaging and almost died in the labor camp. She was released due to her poor health, but still had to care for her sick husband. The constant harassment and persecution has put tremendous pressure on Ms. Yao, causing her health to deteriorate even further. She was hospitalized in February 2014 and given a blood transfusion. She can no longer care for her husband.
Chen Xin and others from the Junan Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Yao in November 2007. She was sentenced to 18 months in Jinan City First Women's Forced Labor Camp, where she was subjected to brainwashing, forced to do hard labor, and was once deprived of sleep for nine consecutive days.
When Ms. Yao refused to wear the labor camp uniform, the head of the team Sun Qunli and other guards tied her to a death bed for 33 consecutive days and tortured her. She lost nearly half her body weight and suffered constant hemorrhaging for eight months. Her husband Mr. Luo Shunyi tried to get her released so that she could receive medical treatment, but instead the guards extorted 60,000 yuan (~US$9,600) from him.
On May 14, 2012, Chen Xin and several others from the Junan Domestic Security Division charged into the hospital ward where Mr. Luo was receiving treatment, and took his cell phone and house keys. Chen threatened to arrest Ms. Yao, causing Mr. Luo's condition to deteriorate.
Chen and the other officers arrested Ms. Yao and broke into her apartment. They ransacked the place and confiscated her money and belongings. Chen had Ms. Yao sentenced to the Jinan First Women's Forced Labor Camp for 18 months again, disregarding that fact that Mr. Luo was in very poor health and that Ms. Yao is his sole caretaker.
When Ms. Yao refused to wear the labor camp uniform, the guards tore her clothes to shreds and humiliated her. She was forced to stand still for long periods of time, deprived of sleep and forced to do hard labor. She became very weak as a result. In July 2013, she suddenly suffered severe hemorrhaging and was in serious condition. The labor camp authorities released her to avoid taking responsibility if she died in there.
Officers from the Junan 610 Office and domestic security division frequently went to Ms. Yao's home to harass her. Despite her poor health, she still had to take care of her bed-ridden husband. The mental pressure caused Mr. Luo's health to deteriorate further and he was frequently hospitalized.
The pressure from having to care for her husband and the long term persecution took a toll on Ms. Yao's health. In February 2014 she became so ill that her daughter had to take her out of town to a larger hospital to receive a blood transfusion. Mr. Luo was left alone without care.
Ms. Yao, 62, is a retiree from a printing company in Junan County.
