1. Delivering Informational Materials to Save People
Due to my strong attachment to fear, I started distributing truth-clarification materials much later than other practitioners, and I did it with much difficulty. It was evening when I delivered the materials for the first time. I threw a brochure at someone's door and left in panic. I felt my heart was in my throat.
Master said,
“What's important for cultivators is righteous thoughts. When you have strong righteous thoughts, you are able to withstand anything and do anything.” (“Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles”)
I enlightened to this Fa principle and eliminated the attachment of fear in the course of saving people.
One day I went to a village on a hill. Due to the steep slope, I had to push my bike. It was getting dark. Suddenly, I saw an animal that looked like a dog or a wolf. I was shocked and scared. What if it was a wolf? I knew no other practitioners who came to this place and that truth-clarification materials most likely had not been distributed here.
Then I thought, “What am I afraid of? I am protected by Master.” I continued walking to the village, and distributed the materials. When I looked down to the foot of the hill, I could see all the lighted houses below. I realized that I left my footprints here to validate Dafa and save people. A feeling of having fulfilled my mission rose in my heart.
Some amazing things happened when I was distributing materials. One dark night, I was riding home on my bike after distributing materials. There was no one on the street, but a car came out of nowhere, struck me, and knocked me down. I got up from the ground and saw that my bike had been damaged. The driver came over and asked, “Are you hurt?” I said, “I'm okay. You can leave.” The driver tried to hand me a few hundred yuan and said, “This is for you to buy a new bike.” I told him, “It's not necessary.” Then a white van appeared. The van driver said, “He doesn't want that much money. You can give him 100 yuan to repair the bike.” The van driver took 100 yuan from the car driver and told him to leave.
The van driver handed me the 100 yuan. I told him that I was a Falun Dafa practitioner and did not want the money. I picked up my bike and left. The van driver caught up to me and said, “You take the money. I don't know that person. What should I do with the money?” I said, “Please find a way to return it.” The next day I went to work as usual, like nothing happened. If I was not protected, how could I, at over 60 years of age, not be hurt?
Another time I went to a village to distribute materials. There was a car parked at the village entrance. Just as I rode behind the car on my bike, the car suddenly backed up and struck me. I lay on the ground with the bike between my legs. The car stopped with its rear wheels against my bike. Someone in the car got out and asked, “Are you hurt?” I got up and said, “I am good” and left to deliver the materials.
There was another miraculous event. One evening, I was on my way home after delivering materials, and it started to rain. I had a thought in mind, “Rain after I get home.” In a short while, it stopped raining. When cars on the other side of the road came by, I could see that it was raining heavily on the other side of the road through the car's lights. Big rain drops hit the road. But on my side of the road there was no rain.
When I went out to deliver the materials, besides sending forth righteous thoughts, my favorite thing to do was to recite Master's poem:
“I heed not their thick fog or the gale winds they whip aboutMountain rains en route wash off dust from the expedition”(“Expedition” from Hong Yin Vol. II)
Especially on rainy and stormy days, while reciting the poem, I feel warm and am deeply aware of the great and sacred mission Dafa disciples undertake.
During the past eight years, I have ridden my bike to over 150 surrounding villages and delivered materials to every home. I knew Master was with me, guiding and protecting me.
Master said:
“Actually, there are a few students who have always been reluctant to do things that are for destroying the evil and clarifying the truth—as if that would be doing something for Master, or as if that would be putting in extra for Dafa.” (“Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples” in Essentials for Further Advancement II)
I hadn't actively clarified the truth in previous years, so I missed many opportunities to save people, and left many regrets. In a group Fa study in 2006 I came to understand that this was a Dafa disciple's historic responsibility and mission. I then started doing face to face truth clarification and persuading people to quit the Party.
A classmate whom I hadn't seen for over ten years came to visit me one day. He was a Party secretary of a high school. After I told him the details of how the CCP persecuted Falun Dafa, I said, “The Party is like a rotting apple. When you throw it away, isn't the good part of the apple also discarded? The Divine looks at a person's mind. If a person quits the Party from his or her heart, that person will be protected.” He said, “OK.” He also mentioned that there was a teacher in his school who practiced Falun Dafa. I asked him not to get involved in persecuting Falun Dafa. He nodded and said yes. When he left, he said, “I will remember what you said.”
I sat with a woman one day who was in charge of a religious group. A practitioner had previously clarified the truth to her, but she had ignored it. We talked about churches being demolished by the CCP.
She said to me, “The church was demolished, contents were taken, and the person in charge was sentenced.” I said to her, “The CCP strikes fear into the Chinese people. People who have faith understand life and death, so the CCP cannot control people who have faith; the CCP hates and is afraid of people who have faith.”
One time I went to a village and met a classmate. Most older people are concerned about their health. He looked at me and said, “You are in such good health. You weren't like like that before.” I told him how bad my health had been, and how it had improved after practicing Falun Dafa. I explained the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution to him, and he quit the Party.
I would like to share something important about persuading people to make the “three withdrawals” from the Party and its affiliated organizations. Do not miss the opportunity when people are about to leave.
I had a friend to whom I had explained the facts several times. He always said that he was no longer in the Youth League, since he had passed the age requirement. He just didn't want to do the “three withdrawals.” One evening I talked to him for quite a long time. He stood up and was about to leave. I said, “Don't keep your membership in the Youth League.” He replied, “OK, I don't want to.”
3. Rectifying Myself and My Children with the Fa
My son was a businessman. He often delivered cooking oil to customers. He once asked me to take some (a customer's) oil home. I didn't want to take it, but my daughter-in-law handed it to me. I took the oil home so I wouldn't hurt her feelings. When I got home, my eyes hurt. I realized right away that I had done the wrong thing due to my attachments of sentimentality and saving face. The next morning I returned the oil to my son and told my daughter-in-law, “No loss, no gain. Please return the oil to the customer.” After that, my eyes no longer hurt.
3. My Daughters-in-Law Change
The first time I explained the truth about Falun Dafa to my second son and his wife, my son accepted it, but my daughter-in-law didn't. Many relatives and friends came over at New Year's time. I played a truth-clarification CD. My grandchildren were watching it. My daughter-in-law said to me, “Don't play it. Don't let the kids watch it.”
I was thinking that a Dafa disciple's positive image can change people's minds, so I made sure that what I said and did were in line with the Fa. For example, there was a state-owned company near my workplace, and someone in that company often offered me customer-returned merchandise, like a table, a bed, and an electric fan. I politely refused all of them. During my 14 years of cultivation, I had six car accidents. I didn't take one penny of compensation.
Someone said that I was a good person with high moral standards. But it is not like that; it is the reflection of a Dafa disciple's image in the human world. My children and daughters-in-law all witnessed these things.
Another new year came, and I played the truth-clarification CD at home again. This time my second daughter-in-law watched the whole CD, and she quit the Youth League. Later, when talking about Falun Dafa, she said, “Falun Gong is the Buddha Fa; it is very good.” A life is thus saved.
4. Changes in My Daughter and the Rest of My Family
After my daughter saw the government-controlled TV report on the Tiananmen self-immolation, she burned our books and exercise cassettes. The staged self-immolation was actually an insidious hoax.
Later, through my truth-clarification efforts and her seeing the changes in her mother's and my health, and that we were good people, she changed her views on Falun Dafa. She said, “You are elderly, yet your health is better than mine. You take things lightly. Because of you, I know that Falun Gong is good.” She later admitted that she was wrong to burn the cassettes, and agreed to withdraw from the CCP and its two youth organizations. Sometimes she kowtowed before Master's picture. Occasionally she helped her mother deliver materials.
My entire family of over ten people withdrew from the CCP. When my granddaughter was in college, her teacher said to her, “You are the best student in the class. Join the Party.” My granddaughter said, “Let's discuss it later.” She politely turned down the invitation and never joined. She sometimes called me and gave me names of people who made the “three withdrawals.” She often recited, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
I helped my grandson quit the Young Pioneers when he was in elementary school. In high school, his teacher wanted the whole class to join the Youth League. She said, “Raise your hand if you don't want to.” My grandson and another student raised their hands. The teacher asked why not. They replied, “No reason.”
During the past seven or eight years, my New Year's couplets have been about Dafa cultivation. Someone said, “Your couplet is very good.” Another one said, “Your couplet is as good as you.” This year's couplet is “Falun Dafa Spreads to Five Continents. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Heard over Four Oceans.” The horizontal title reads, “Falun Dafa is good.” Whenever I hear a passerby read “Falun Dafa is good,” I think, “Once a person reads it out loud, most likely he has chosen his future.”
I've enlightened that however much I improve my xinxing is equal to how much I cultivate. Then Master removes the equivalent amount of bad things from my body and mind.
Looking back my 14-year cultivation path, although I did as I was supposed to do, there are still gaps between me and fellow practitioners. I'll cherish the future cultivation path and try to do better.
