(Minghui.org) Practicing Falun Dafa has helped many practitioners to heal their illnesses and has kept them healthy. This is a great benefit that non-practitioners do not enjoy. However, many practitioners still pursue comfort and often complain that the cultivation period is too long, and ask why the end of Fa rectification is still not in sight.

So why do we cultivate?

Master has often mentioned how practitioners should be like “true or genuine gold.”

“The great waves shift the sand, and that is what cultivation practice is all about. What is left in the end will be genuine gold.” (Zhuan Falun)

“Only those who can stick to it until the end are the genuine gold. Only those who stick to it until the very end can achieve Consummation.” (“Teaching the Fa and Answering Questions in Yanji” in Zhuan Falun Fajie The Law of Zhuan Falun Explained)

“Cultivation is just like the tides sifting the sand from the gold. Those who can’t endure may be sifted out. What remains is the shining gold, the real gold that can truly achieve Consummation. It’s just that these are fewer. Cultivation is a serious matter, so while going through trials and tribulations a person absolutely can’t be careless at a critical moment. It’s most important to see what step he takes next and how he comprehends them.” (Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Canada)

“From the divine perspective, the journey is a process of true gold being tempered and forged in a furnace.” (Fa Teaching Given at the 2014 San Francisco Fa Conference)

It is easy to see that Maser wants the “true gold” in practitioners, and what is tempered and forged in cultivation is “true gold.”

How would gold feel being tempered and forged in a furnace? As the heat is raised to make molten liquid, would it feel comfortable? Absolutely not. The fire in the furnace eliminates the impurities, and keeps the true gold. The process of the smelting is finished only when all the impurities are eliminated.

If a cultivator always has thoughts of complaint in cultivation then he or she would soon return to the human state. In such a case, wouldn't this cultivator ruin his or her efforts made in the last millions of years, and never see the wonderful result that cultivation brings.

Master has arranged our cultivation in a state of delusion. It can be physically and mentally painful at times, but we have the Fa. Master's teaching is the guiding light. As long as we study the Fa, have solid belief in the Fa, and use it to guide us through difficulties and conflicts, it will help us and provide us with protection in cultivation.

Consummation cannot be reached while harboring human notions. We have cultivated over many lifetimes so that we can be fortunate enough to obtain the Fa in this life. Being lost in delusion is not a part of our path. Fellow practitioners, let us follow Master and the Fa, and walk the path home.
