(Minghui.org) A total of 291 Falun Gong practitioners from Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province, have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin between May 24 and October 22, 2015, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.
The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Many of these practitioners recounted how Falun Gong returned them to health and gave them a new outlook on life. Their dream to live a healthier and happier life, however, was shattered when Jiang Zemin launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the practice in 1999.
Simply for refusing to give up their belief, they were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized. Many also saw their families implicated for their belief, while some were also forced to pay huge fines.
The Hulin practitioners who filed criminal complaints described the cruel torture they or their family members endured.
Below, we profile a few of these practitioners.
Ms. Zhao Bixu (赵碧旭) died at the age of 69. She was arrested in 2008 because she gave someone a Falun Gong memento. She was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. She died under suspicious circumstances two weeks before the end of her term. Ms. Zhao's husband, Qiu Pingfa, filed the criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin.
Mr. Xia Debao (夏德宝) died at the age of 44. He was taken to a forced labor camp for one year in December 2002. When he was released, he suffered from edema all over his body and boils covering his limbs. Mr. Xia's health continued to deteriorate over the next few years, and he died on December 23, 2008. His wife filed the criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin.
Mr. Ye Zhenghui (叶正辉), 44, was detained in 2006 for practicing Falun Gong. He was handcuffed to a heater and not allowed to sleep. The police stripped him and used four electric batons to shock his lips, thighs, and genitals. His home decoration shop was shut down. The authorities pressured his wife to divorce him.
Ms. Han Fenglian (韩凤莲) was arrested twice, once in 2003 and again in 2006. The police forced her to stand against a wall and took turns hitting her in the head.
Mr. Du Yunfeng (杜云峰) has been detained five times for a total of 22 months. The police broke one of his ribs and shackled him to metal rings affixed to the ground for more then 10 days. In the winter, they poured ice cold water over him for more than four hours and beat him.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners during the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
