Mr. Shi Biao: Mr. Shi, in his mid-thirties, from Wuyun Town, Jinyun County, Zheijiang Province, suffered internal injuries when he was beaten in a brainwashing center. He died on December 17, 2003, a year after he returned home.
Mr. Fan Zhongzhuang: Mr. Fan is from Jinyun County, Zhejian Province. He was sentenced to forced labor three times after the persecution began in 1999. After his arrest in 2005, he was taken to the Jinyun Detention Center before being tortured and taken to the Lishui Cener Hospital on August 27, 2005. He was forced to pay 380,000 yuan to the Lishui Hospital, but he did not recover. Doctors told him he would be paralyzed for life. When he was released, he practiced Falun Gong diligently and was able to walk again with crutches.
Mr. Guan De and his wife, Ms. Du Lanrui: The couple, both between 60 and 70 years old, lived in Canglingjiao Village, Huzheng Town. They went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 1999, and were arrested and taken to a brainwashing center. They were beaten, and Ms. Du was also tortured. Both were sentenced to prison in 2002. Mr. Guan was sentenced to six years, and Ms. Du to seven years. They were released only to later end up in a brainwashing center. Ms. Du was sentenced to three years in prison in 2010, when she tried to take back the so called transformation paper she had written. She was tortured, and released only after becoming paralyzed and blind. Mr. Guan was arrested again in 2014
Mr. Li Shihan: He is from Gongqian Village, Huzheng Town in Jinyun County. He was arrested and detained by officials from the town office, 610 Office, and police station. When he was tortured, five people pulled his head and limbs in opposite directions, and then held his hands and arms above lit candles. He jumped out of a window to escape, but was caught and sentenced to prison. After being released, he was harassed and threatened. He left home to escape arrest, and his whereabouts are unknown. His son Li Jiancheng was also arrested and tortured.
Mr. Jin Zigen: He was a guard for the Huzheng Township Warehouse of the National Staple Bureau. His employer withheld his pension because he practiced Falun Gong. He was arrested and taken to the Xiaojun Brainwashing Center in 2001, where he was beaten. His wife, Ms. Lu Zhuchun, was also taken to a forced labor camp, a brainwashing center, and prison.
Ms. Lu Weimei: When she was in her sixties, she was taken to a brainwashing center and tortured. She was sentenced to a nine-year prison term in 2006.
Ms. Ma Yuefeng: Ms. Ma, 65, was arrested on May 29, 2014. She lived in Huzheng Township in Zhejiang Province, so she was taken to the Shuanglongdong Brainwashing Center in Jinhua City by police from Yongkang and Huzheng Township. She told her lawyer that she witnessed practitioners being beaten daily. That night, two police officers and a town official hit her in the face, kicked her, and beat her with a broomstick.
Ms. Zhou Ainv: Ms. Zhou, in her forties, lived in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. She was arrested and detained in the town office after she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was subsequently detained in a forced labor camp, where they deprived her of sleep. She was diagnosed with a heart problem and became incontinent. The forced labor camp notified the local government to allow a medical parole to escape blame for her illness.
