(Minghui.org) I have witnessed much kindness from all kinds of people during my daily encounters. The Chinese communist regime's 16-year persecution has not destroyed Chinese people's confidence in Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
I am writing down my experiences and also sending my best wishes to those who hold kindness dear to their hearts, even when the environment offers little incentive to do so.
A colleague of mine was admitted to a graduate program at a top university in Beijing. He visited my office to say goodbye before his departure. I offered him a Falun Gong DVD with facts about the persecution and said that, unfortunately, time didn't allow us to have lunch together to celebrate his success.
To my surprise, he was very happy: “Thank you so much! This is better than ten meals. I'll watch it with my wife. I'll also save it for my child. I see Falun Gong's magnificence through this persecution. If I am ever in a position to make a difference, I'll speak out against the injustice!”
At a group lunch at the cafeteria, my colleagues discussed the corruption of the Chinese Communist Party. One person called the June 4, 1989 occurrence on Tiananmen Square a “riot.” Another colleague protested, “That wasn't a riot. It was a peaceful student demonstration.” He added, “Why hasn't Falun Gong disappeared as a result of the persecution? It's because they [practitioners] speak the truth!”
I spoke with a taxi driver who was very receptive and kept telling me “Falun Gong is good.” He asked me for a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main Falun Gong book, at the end of the ride. Due to the persecution, the book has been banned in China and is hard to find.
I had only one copy at the time and hesitated. He made his plea with great sincerity: “Society is such a mess now. I would like to read Zhuan Falun. I will educate my two sons with the values in the book so they can be good.” He convinced me; I gave him my copy.
I was talking to another taxi driver one night on May 13, the anniversary of Falun Gong's introduction to the public. We talked about the beauty of Falun Gong and the brutality of the persecution. He was so immersed in our conversation that he pulled over. We spoke for nearly an hour.
A police patrol came and yelled through a bullhorn, “Leave immediately! You can't park here!” As the police car passed by, the driver opened the window, stuck his head out, and replied, “No need to yell! Falun Gong is much better than you police!”
