(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Jigui is a 58-year-old doctor of Chinese medicine. A native of Pingding County, Yangquan City in Shanxi Province, he began to practice Falun Gong in 1996.
While he was distributing Shen Yun DVDs in Weishe Village around 1 a.m. on August 4, 2014, Mr. Wang was illegally arrested by local police. He was taken to Pingding County Detention Center.
His arrest was approved by Pingding County Procuratorate on August 15. The prosecutor brought charges against him on December 5 and the Pingding County Court held a secret trial on December 24, without informing his family. On February 4, 2015, the court illegally sentenced him to three-years in prison.
Mr. Wang appealed to Yangquan City Intermediate Court two days after the sentencing on February 6. But his appeal was rejected after the second trial on May 6, and he was sent to Jinzhong Prison in Qi County, Shanxi Province.
A large number of Falun Gong practitioners are being detained at Jinzhong Prison. The practitioners are barred from contacting their family if they refuse to compromise their spiritual beliefs. Since being sent to detention a month ago, no information has been available about Mr. Wang's condition.
