(Minghui.org) A judge from the Yangming District Court, Mudanjiang City, attempted to try Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Yuliang, his wife Ms. Jiang Yuemei and Ms. Jin Fengying again on May 26, 2015.
The trial was scheduled eight times and held two times, with one being adjourned because Mr. Zhang had a heart attack.
Yangming District Court scheduled a hearing on January 13 and 27, 2015, which was adjourned as the court failed to deliver the indictment and the practitioner requested to hire a lawyer. The court postponed the hearing three times, without giving any reason or written notice.
The fifth scheduled hearing was on April 28. Lawyer Sun went to the court on April 27, to submit the document for presenting Mr. Zhang. Judge Qian refused to accept the documents and violated existing Chinese law prior to the trial.
Lawyer Sun submitted the document again on April 28. Judge Qian accepted it, but disallowed him to meet Mr. Zhang or enter the courtroom. Mr. Zhang experienced physical problems during the trial and Judge Qian ordered the bailiff to remove him from the courtroom. The judge tried Ms. Jiang and Ms. Jin.
The lawyer and his clients pointed out violations of court procedures, which judge Qian did not allow to be entered into the court record.
During the trial on May 19, the judge only allowed three out of six lawyers to be present at the trial and ignored any protest.
Mr. Zhang was emaciated after nine months of detention and wore an oxygen mask. He suffered a heart attack and was taken to the emergency room. The court was adjourned. His family was forced to pay for the medical expenses.
The court ordered police to take Mr. Zhang to the courthouse for another trial on May 20. Mr. Zhang's condition was unstable, so doctors at the public security hospital refused to issue a medical certificate for his discharge. Therefore, judge Qian had to postpone the hearing to May 26.
Three practitioners were arrested on September 14, 2014, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed concerns over their arrest.
