(Minghui.org) Due to the years of persecution we have suffered at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), my neighbors did not dare to socialize with us anymore. Some even turned their heads as they passed my house.
How could I change this situation and help people learn the truth about Falun Dafa? Since I live near a busy road, I decided that making an attractive front yard flower bed would be effective.
Most of my neighbors love flowers, so this would encourage them to come by for a chat.
I am a 62-year-old peasant and started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998. After I began, I became free of illnesses and changed my quick temper completely. I now treasure the Fa as much as my own life.
Although I endured persecution all these years, I still believed in Master and the Fa and did the three things. In my spare time, I often rode a bicycle to deliver materials to clarify the truth.
Seeds of Truth
In 2010, I started designing the flower bed, and the next year, multicolored flowers began to bloom. I planted sweet olive, chrysanthemum, Chinese redbud, Japanese camellia, jasmine, China rose, and marguerite daisy.
I noticed that most passersby would glance at my house. I also knew the China rose was very popular, so I planted seven types in my yard. I now give away over 60 seedlings every year.
I placed a concrete bench outside, and if I discovered someone taking a break, I would talk about my flowers, clarify the truth about the persecution, or invite them in to watch a Shen Yun DVD.
If I saw a stalled car nearby, I would take water to the driver or repairman, then clarify the facts and give them Shen Yun DVDs. A man on a motorcycle once got a flat tire, so I lent him my pump. After he fixed the flat, I told him my story.
On another occasion, I met a beggar and brought him food and water. Although his clothes smelled bad, I invited him in to watch a Shen Yun DVD. He became very talkative.
Most of my visitors decided to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations after understanding Falun Dafa. Some of them later reported even having their illnesses healed or avoiding harm in an accident.
This past spring all kinds of flowers flourished. I noticed more people only viewed them but rarely asked for any seedlings, because they worried that the flowers would die shortly afterward. I then gave them flowers with their roots secured in soil.
Some folks said, “You never charge for flowers. Moreover you provide soil and bags for free. You practitioners are so nice!” I replied, “It will take a while to dig up some flowers for you, so why not come inside to watch a Shen Yun video.”
Last week, a woman in her 40s stopped in front of my house. She and her two daughters were fond of our flowers, so I pointed out a Chinese rose in bloom. “This flower has an intense fragrance!” I said.
The woman asked, “Could you sell it to me for 20 yuan?” I smiled and said, “The flower is free for anyone who loves it.” Actually, in my heart I meant that the flower would be given to anyone with a predestined opportunity to learn about Falun Dafa.
My wife and I spent over 10 minutes clarifying the truth to this family. At last, her youngest daughter agreed to withdraw from the Young Pioneers. I also gave them a Shen Yun DVD.
