(Minghui.org) I am one of over 150,000 Falun Gong practitioners who have recently filed a lawsuit against the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin. Jiang launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, and the brutal and unjust treatment of practitioners has continued for the past 16 years.
After submitting criminal complaints to the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate at the end of last May, I received acknowledgment from both agencies the following day.
Local officials arrested me late last month because of this and detained me for two days. I talked to police officers and found that most of them agreed with the effort to sue Jiang.
“I Admire Your Courage”
One officer interrogated me on August 24, 2015. After I explained to him why I am suing Jiang, he asked a few questions.
“Mao launched the Cultural Revolution and left a large number of Chinese suffering. Did anyone sue him?”
“I don't think so.” I replied.
“Did anyone bring a lawsuit against him after he died?”
“Not that I am aware of,” I said.
“Suing Jiang for persecuting Falun Gong while he is still alive is so dangerous.” The officer paused before continuing, “I work as a police officer to make a living, so I cannot think the same way as you do. To be honest, I don't quite understand this [safety risk], but I admire your courage.”
“Suing Jiang? That's Reasonable and Legal”
An officer from a nearby district saw me and asked another officer, “What's wrong with her?”
“She is a Falun Gong [practitioner], and she sued Jiang Zemin using her real identity,” the other officer answered. “She is the plaintiff and Jiang is the defendant.”
This officer shrugged, “Suing Jiang? That's reasonable and legal.”
“You'd Better Hurry!”
After the police took me to the city detention center, a guard asked the officer why I was detained.
“She is suing Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong, using her real name and address,” said the officer.
“Oh, I see.” The guard turned to me, “You'd better hurry! He is already over 80 and could die any day.”
