(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ye Cuibing was tried by the Haidian Court in Beijing on August 25, 2015, while being shackled the entire time. Her attorney demanded the shackles be removed, but the judge refused. The trial ended at around 2:00 p.m. without a verdict being issued.
During the trial, when Ms. Ye’s attorney tried to refute the' “evidences” used against his client, the judge constantly interrupted him. When the attorney protested the interruptions, the courtroom officers shouted at and threatened him.
Background
Ms. Ye, 60s, started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. She was arrested by officers from the Haidian Domestic Security Division and the Yangfangdian Police Station on October 11, 2014, for talking to people about the persecution. The police ransacked her home and confiscated computers and other personal items. They also stole 7,700 yuan that Ms. Ye had saved up for her mother’s living expanses.
Ms. Ye was taken to the Haidian Detention Center, and her family was not allowed to visit her.
Her family demanded that the police give them the list of confiscated items, but the police refused.
Ms. Ye's 85-year-old mother was left at home without someone to care for her after Ms. Ye was arrested. Her illness also worsened until she passed away on July 11, 2015. Her mother never got the chance to see her before she died.
