(Minghui.org) Staff at the forced labor camp where I was detained began to persecute and transform Falun Dafa practitioners in April 2001. Internally, I had a debate about whether I should write the so-called three statements and renounce my belief in Falun Dafa. I was at a loss.
After I calmed down, I remembered that Teacher has always taught to value virtue and to be kind. However, the Chinese Communist Party defamed Teacher by saying that he was collecting money and property from us. Neither I, nor anyone else I know has ever witnessed that. No one was ever asked to give him a penny. In the end, I made up my mind: I would never leave Dafa or be against it.
After I had this thought, the attachments that had caused my confusion suddenly disappeared. I relaxed. Soon after, this passage from the Fa came to mind:
“There cannot be any slight deviation in the countless years to come. Safeguarding Dafa with your own conduct is forever the responsibility of Dafa disciples, because Dafa belongs to all sentient beings of the universe, and this includes you.” (“Stability of the Fa” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
This reinforced that my stance was correct. Then another passage of Fa came to mind:
“Then, as a cultivator, you should make use of all feasible conditions to spread Dafa and validate Dafa as a correct and true science, rather than preaching or idealism—this is every cultivator’s obligation.” (“Validation” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
Teacher had opened up my wisdom, and I thus realized that it was my obligation to validate Dafa. I decided to talk to the guard who was trying to transform me.
This guard was a political instructor. He said that as long as I write the so-called “three statements,” they would allow me to go home. I began to think about what Teacher said:
“From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism. So from now on, whatever you do or whatever you say, you must consider others—or even future generations—along with Dafa’s eternal stability.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
I knew what to do. I calmly said, “Can I ask you one question?” He nodded his head yes. I asked, “As a police officer, how would you treat someone who killed people or set fires?”
He did not answer, I asked another question: “How would you treat someone who ordered others to kill people or set fires?”
I continued: “In your eyes, writing the 'three statements' looks simple, but for someone who has been uplifted through Dafa cultivation, it is not simple. When tormented by illness and facing death, many practitioners had nowhere to turn, and when their lives were nearly over, they couldn't do anything about it. But suddenly, their lives were extended by Dafa. What do the 'three statements' mean to them? Isn't it the same as taking away their lives and souls? Falun Dafa is the Buddha Fa. It is the root of everything, including yourself. As a human, you need to hold yourself to moral standards as well.”
After that, none of the guards again asked me to write anything, especially the guard who was the political instructor: he always greeted me and smiled when he saw me.
Through this experience, I changed. I used to think only about my need to practice. At first, I refused to write the letter renouncing Dafa solely because of concern for my own future. I came to realize that I should let go of self and think about how best to save others, how to inspire people's kindness, and how to have them understand the importance of being alive during Fa-rectification. Only then can I help save others.
