(Minghui.org) Since the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999 in China, countless Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted, incarcerated, and subjected to brutal torture; thousands were tortured to death.
Among those who are directly involved in the persecution, many know the illegality of the persecution and have chosen to secretly assist practitioners. The following are accounts from two Falun Gong practitioners.
I was acquainted with a police chief whose mother practiced Falun Gong before the persecution. He knew that Falun Gong practitioners were law-abiding people who cultivated their mind and body to be good and healthy.
I was arrested soon after the onset of the persecution and was taken to the police department, where I saw him in the hallway. When there was no one around, he said softly, “You’ve seen the situation right now—government authorities pressure us to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. You must protect yourself and practice at home whenever you want to.” I could tell that he was worried about me.
Another practitioner told me that, when he was arrested and taken into the interrogation room, this police chief was there to interrogate him. There were many instruments of torture in the room.
The police chief had a fierce look when he asked, “Are you going to tell us everything yourself, or shall we make you?”
This fellow practitioner replied, “Do you have more torture tools? Bring them on.”
Then the police chief said, “Think hard before you answer. It’ll be hard for you to endure it.” As he walked towards the door he said, “I need to go to the bathroom, but don’t even think about running away!”
The practitioner thought the police chief indeed went to the bathroom, but he soon realized that there was no guard at the door. At that moment, he suddenly understood that the police chief actually hinted for him to run away and he got out safely.
I was arrested for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in the year 2000, and I lost my job because of that.
After I was fired, I received an anonymous phone call, which told me to show my company the Labor Law of China to get my job back.
When I went to the director of the labor section, he said, “We fired you because you practice Falun Gong.”
I asked him to look into the law to see if he could find anything to legitimize their firing someone for practicing Falun Gong. Since there was no law to back up their conduct, I asked him to sign a statement that I was fired for my faith.
He would not sign. I then said that if he did not sign, he must restore my position. He did not say anything, but I got my job back at the end of 2001. My salary was returned to me, including the amount that had been withheld.
