(Minghui.org) Ms. Hu Yulan from Jilin City, Jilin Province was arrested while distributing brochures about Falun Dafa and its persecution by the Chinese communist regime. The arrest took place at a market on Taoyuan Road in Chuanying District on May 20, 2018. The police ransacked her home and detained her in Jilin City Detention Center. Her husband is incapacitated and was left home alone.
Ms. Hu began practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. Her health and moral character improved greatly after she became diligent in the self-cultivation practice.
After the Chinese Communist Party launched its violent persecution of the practice, she went to Beijing to petition the government in the winter of 1999. She was arrested at Tiananmen Square.
Her family went to Beijing to look for her after seeing her being arrested on live television. They were unsuccessful but secured her release by working with the Longtan District Police Department in Jilin City.
In 2001, Ms. Hu was arrested by plainclothes officers while distributing Dafa brochures in a neighborhood. She was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center where she did forced labor for a month.
She was then sentenced to one year in prison and taken to the Heizuizi Women's Prison in Changchun City, where she was tortured and forced to do slave labor.
Ms. Hu had also hoped to visit her daughter abroad, but the police refused to issue her a passport due to her practice of Falun Gong.
