Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Hong
Falun Gong practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese consulate in Calgary, Canada on July 19 to condemn the 19 years of violent suppression by the communist regime in China and mourn those who have lost their lives due to the persecution.
Jiang Hong from Chongqing shared what her six-member family experienced at the hands of communist authorities. Her father was stored in a fridge by the Chinese police when he was still alive. She called for all people to join efforts to end the egregious human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Jiang Hong's father, Jiang Xiqing, was a retired employee of the Jiangjin Tax Department. Several days before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he was arrested and taken to the Seventh Division of Xishanping Forced Labor Camp.
On January 27, 2009, Mr. Jiang's family visited him. He was still in good health. However, in less than 24 hours, on January 28, his family got a call from the labor camp claiming that he had passed away.
Less than seven hours later, his children found that their father's philtrum, chest, abdomen, and legs were all still warm to the touch. Believing that he was still alive, the family members tried to resuscitate him, but they were dragged out of the funeral home by dozens of police officers.
Jiang Hong's mother, Luo Zehui, lost the hearing in her left ear due to beatings at a brainwashing center. She was secretly sentenced to 8 years by Jiangjin District Court in 2008 and sent to Chongqing Women's Prison.
Jiang Hong's younger brother, Jiang Hongbin, was forced to leave home and wander around after his home was repeatedly ransacked by police. The Jiangjin District Tax Department fired him for refusing to renounce Falun Gong.
Jiang Hong's younger sister, Jiang Ping, also lost her job as a result of the persecution.
The family has hired six lawyers throughout the years, all of whom were beaten by police.
Ms. Sun, spokesperson of the Calgary Falun Dafa (another name of Falun Gong) Association, stated that the persecution of Falun Gong contains all the evil in human history. It sabotages humanity, universal values, and traditional Chinese culture. She said that she firmly believes that Falun Gong practitioners will see the end of the persecution and that the Chinese Communist Party will collapse as the history turns the page.
