(Minghui.org) The family of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yu Ying, 58, received a call from Captain Hu Yang at Liaoning Women's Prison, on July 23, 2018, notifying them that Ms. Yu had high blood pressure of 200/120 and uterine fibroids. Captain Yu said that her hypertension was difficult to control and that she could develop cerebrovascular disease, which is life-threatening. She is being held in the No. 12 Division of Liaoning Provincial Women’s Prison.
Her family went to the prison on July 25, 2018. The prison division head Chen Shuo and Captain Hu Yang tried to get her family to sign a statement regarding her condition, but they refused to do so. When her family visited her, Ms. Yu had black circles around her eyes. She is very weak and can only walk with the assistance of two people.
The prison gave Ms. Yu medicine to lower her blood pressure, but at a dangerously high dosage. She is in danger of excessive blood vessel expansion, rupturing of a blood vessel, or developing a cerebral embolism due to the large doses of antihypertensive drugs that they have given her. Her condition has worsened, and she is confused and scared.
Ms. Yu's family has requested that she be released on bail due to her medical condition. They have also reiterated that if something unforeseen happens to Ms. Yu, the prison must bear legal responsibility.
History of Illegal Arrests
Ms. Yu, from Anshan City, Liaoning Province was telling people about Falun Dafa on May 9, 2017, when someone reported her to Tangjiafang Police Station.
Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Li Su'e, 64, was also illegally arrested that day. Tiedong District Procuratorate filed charges against the two women in late October 2017.
Ms. Yu fainted frequently while held at the detention center. Her blood pressure was about 220+/160. The prison hospital took an X-ray of her chest in February 2018 and found that the muscles were enlarged, which could be life-threatening at any time.
Judge Gao Tai of Tiedong District Court sentenced both women to three years in prison on December 4, 2017. They both appealed, but the Anshan Intermediate Court upheld the verdict on June 25, 2018. The presiding Judge Hou Xingang did not notify their families or their lawyers of the verdict.
Ms. Yu was taken to Liaoning Women's Prison on July 17, 2018. Her family went to see her on July 19, 2018, but the captain and the deputy head turned them away. They said that Ms. Yu had already been treated with medicine, and they would notify the family when they could see her.
