(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhou Yufang, 67, is a resident of Fushun City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested three times in less than ten months for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Zhou was first arrested on March 21, 2018. She was released hours later after the local detention center declined to admit her due to poor health.
Nine months later, two agents from the Qianjin Police Station showed up at Ms. Zhou's home in the early morning hours of December 10, 2018 and said they needed her to assist with their investigation of her March arrest. She agreed to go with them, only to be taken straight to the Nangou Detention Center. Three days later, Ms. Zhou experienced difficulty breathing and lost consciousness.
She was sent to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The doctors sent a notice of critical condition to her family. The notice stated that the cause of her dizziness remained unclear and that she could die at any time. Her family was warned that she could develop a stroke or go into shock.
After she was sent home, Ms. Zhou gradually recovered through doing the Falun Gong exercises. She went out at 3 p.m. on January 4, 2019 to distribute Falun Gong informational materials and was arrested shortly after being reported to the police. She was taken to the Zhanqian Police Station.
Three and a half hours later, Peng Yue, Wei Zhenxing and three other agents from the Fushun City Domestic Security Office descended on her home and confiscated DVDs that contained Falun Gong information. Later that night, Ms. Zhou was again sent to the Nangou Detention Center.
Ms. Zhou's family members went to the police station upon being informed of her arrest. They told the police about her condition and requested her release. But the police replied that the Domestic Security Office ordered the arrest and they were not authorized to release her.
Ms. Zhou's family came back to the police station the next day with a copy of her medical records. Chief Song Xiaoxin refused to accept it and told her family to talk to the Domestic Security Office.
Her family members went to the Domestic Security Office on January 9 but were denied entry. They called director Peng Yue, but he denied having arrested Ms. Zhou. He claimed that the police station did the arrest and the family should go there to request her release.
Ms. Zhou's family worries about her safety but have nowhere to turn for help.
