(Minghui.org) A Beijing man suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes, and a stroke during his four-year prison term for not renouncing his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Eight months after he was released, Mr. Wang Fenglong passed away on January 20, 2019. He was 58.
Mr. Wang was home on April 25, 2014 when a group of officers pretended to be from the water company and deceived him into opening the door. They confiscated his computer, printer, and other personal items. His son's computer was also taken away. The police later found Mr. Wang's other residence and ransacked it as well.
Both Mr. Wang and his wife were taken to the local police station for interrogation. Although his wife was released shortly afterwards, Mr. Wang was kept at Fangshan Detention Center and sentenced to four years in prison in early April 2015.
Mr. Wang was repeatedly tortured as the authorities at Liulin Prison in Beijing attempted to force him to renounce his faith. By the time he was released in April 2018, his health had dramatically declined as a result of the tortures.
In the past 20 years of persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Wang was arrested 11 times for his faith. He was subjected to various tortures during detentions, including sitting on a small stool for extended hours, starvation, beatings and electric shocks.
He was arrested twice in 2004 alone. Following a one-month detention after his arrest in March, he was arrested again on August 17 and given 2.5 years of forced labor.
