(Minghui.org) A resident of Xishui County, Hubei Province, passed away six months after he finished serving three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body practice based on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
After the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Wang Zheng'an was repeatedly arrested and detained for not renouncing his faith. He was sent to forced labor camps twice for a total of two and a half years. At the age of 70, he was sentenced to three years in prison and passed away soon after he was released.
Mr. Wang's latest arrest was on July 20, 2015, when Feng Aiguo, the head of the Xishui County 610 Office, and Guo Jianli, the head of Xishui County Police Department, broke into his home with other officers.
Over the past 20 years, Guo has actively led the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the Xishui region. He once stripped Mr. Wang naked in the winter and forced him to stand out in the wind with his hands up. Guo also confiscated 2,450 yuan in cash from Mr. Wang. The bills had information about Falun Gong printed on them. When Mr. Wang went to the police department to ask for his confiscated cash to be returned, Guo held him in detention for 10 days.
Following his latest arrest, Mr. Wang was first taken to Wuhan Brainwashing Center and then transferred to Xishui County Detention Center. No family visits were allowed.
He was later sentenced to three years and sent to the notorious Fanjiatai Prison, where most Falun Gong practitioners in Hubei Province sentenced for not giving up their faith were incarcerated and tortured.
Because he refused to renounce his faith, Mr. Wang was savagely beaten, forced to stand or work for long hours, and deprived of sleep.
He was released from the prison on March 19, 2018, and died on September 7. He was 73.
