(Minghui.org) A resident of Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province is facing indictment after her arrest was approved on July 4, 2019, after nearly two months of detention following her arrest in Beijing.
Ms. Liu Zhongmin, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on May 22, 2019, after she was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong at Nanyuan Residential District in Beijing.
Another practitioner, Ms. Li, who was with Ms. Liu at that time, was also arrested.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The two practitioners were sent to Fengtai Detention Center after being detained at the Nanyuan police station for 24 hours. Ms. Li was later released on bail.
Previous Arrests and Imprisonment
Ms. Liu's recent arrest came only two years after she was released from a previous eight-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu was first arrested in 2000 when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. While she was held at Suihua Detention Center, her husband divorced her as he couldn't bear the tremendous pressure from the Chinese regime. Ms. Liu had to raise her teenage daughter alone after she was released.
She was arrested again at 4:30 a.m. on June 5, 2008, at home by Wang Shubo and several officers from 610 Office and then sent to Qing'an Detention Center. Her 80-year-old mother was left at home alone.
Wang took up residence in Ms. Liu's apartment while other officers lived on the fourth and fifth floor of the building so as to arrest practitioners who came to visit Ms. Liu.
Ms. Liu was later sentenced to eight years in 2009 and imprisoned at Heilongjiang Women's Prison. In the prison, Ms. Liu was subjected to torture and brainwashing. The guards forced her to sit on a small tool for long hours as a punishment for not renouncing her faith.
In November 28, 2011, Ms. Liu and a few other practitioners were hung up and beaten when they refused to give up their belief. Some practitioner's eyeballs extruded and had bruises all over their bodies. The police didn't stop the beatings until the practitioners agreed to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. But some of them were still forced to sit on the small stool afterwards.
