(Minghui.org) Eight residents of Longkou City, Shandong Province, including one 81-year-old, were arrested over the course of two days in July 2019 for refusing to give up their faith in Falun Gong. Another five Falun Gong practitioners were harassed.
Directed by the Longkou City Domestic Security Division, multiple local police stations sent agents to arrest and harass the 13 practitioners after monitoring their cellphones for some time.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Arrests
Mr. Yao Xinren was arrested at 9 a.m. on July 3 by Longgang Police Station officers. He was at work at the time
Ms. Yuan Yuqin was also arrested on the morning of July 3. The police ransacked her home and took her to Yantai Detention Center.
Ms. Xiu Yongjie was arrested by Shiliang Police Station officers on the afternoon of July 3. It was reported that she is being held in Zhangjiagou Detention Center.
Another practitioner surnamed Fu was arrested in the afternoon as well. His or her home was ransacked.
Ms. Chen Guihua and Ms. Chen Guizhi were arrested while talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a market on the morning of July 4.
Ms. Song Yuqiu and Ms. Xu Guiqing, 81, were arrested by officers from Dongjiang Police Station on the afternoon of July 4. Both of their homes were ransacked.
Harassment
Four practitioners in the Xicheng District were harassed by six officers from Longgang Police Station on the afternoon of July 3.
Ms. Han Wenmei's home was ransacked on the morning of July 4.
