(Minghui.org) A resident of Changchun City, Jilin Province was sentenced to four years one day after she was arrested for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
A group of officers broke into Ms. Huang Jinxia’s home on July 17, 2019 and arrested her. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, some personal items, as well as 1,100 yuan in cash.
Ms. Huang, around 60, was physically confined to a chair overnight at Fulongquan Police Station. The police interrogated her on the next day and took her photos and fingerprints.
Ms. Huang was taken to Jingkai Court around 10 p.m. Less than an hour later, the judge sentenced her to four years.
She was released on medical parole after two weeks of incarceration due to her physical condition. The authorities ordered her to report to the local justice bureau every day, use China Unicom as her cellphone carrier, and keep her cellphone on at all times.
In addition, she was required to have a physical examination every three months at her own expense, sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong, and attend brainwashing sessions. She refused to comply.
Ms. Huang’s daughter later tried to seek the return of the 1,100 yuan confiscated from her mother. She was given runarounds before the police finally returned the money.
This was the second time in four years that Ms. Huang has been sentenced for her faith. She was given three years in 2016 for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution in 1999.
Ms. Huang began to practice Falun Gong in 1995, and she credits the practice for curing her cancer and improving her health and character.
