(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 30 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 55 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Officers from a number of police stations in the Laiwu District harassed local practitioners, as ordered by their superiors between June and July in 2020.
Compiled harassment incidents are as follows:
Officers from the Maioshan Police Station went to the Changzhuang Village Committee. They phoned Ms. Qin Kemei, Mr. Wang Xitian, practitioner Duan, and three or four other practitioners and told them to come to the village committee. They forced each of them to signed and fingerprint the absolution statement and the three statements.
Officers from the Maioshan Police Station told Changzhuang Village Committee officials to lead six or seven people to Ms. Zhang Jinyun’s home. They demanded she sign and fingerprint paperwork. She refused. Under their threats and intimidation, Ms. Zhang's husband hit her and grabbed her hand to press her fingerprints.
Gushan Village Committee officials in Miaoshan Town led the police to Ms. Sun Lianhua’s home, and forced her to sign and fingerprint paperwork.
Mr. Xiong Ziquan in Huangya Village, Miaoshan Town, was harassed several times. He was pressured to sign paperwork, but he firmly refused to cooperate.
Officers from the Miaoshan Town Police Station went to Mr. Ping Zhenfa’s home in the Shangzhou Village. Mr. Ping was not at home. The officers told his wife and daughter to sign and fingerprint paperwork. They threatened that if they did not sign or press their fingerprints, they would not allow Mr. Ping’s children to enroll in schools, join the People’s Liberation Army, or find employment. Mr. Ping’s wife could not write, so they forced her daughter to sign and press her fingerprints on her behalf.
Officers from the Mazhuang Police Station in Laiwu District led by officials from the Cao Village Committee went to 76-year-old Ms. Liu Junying’s home, and demanded she sign and fingerprint paperwork. She refused to cooperate.
The officers repeatedly called Ms. Liu’s daughter, who owns a shop, to harass her. They pressured and threatened her daughter to sign and press her fingerprints on her mother’s behalf, otherwise it would affect her children's ability to go to college.
In addition, the officers and village officials went to 77-year-old Ms. Qi Cuiju’s home in the same village as Ms. Liu. Ms. Qi was not at home then.
The village officials later told the police officers to go to Ms. Qi’s home again and ask for her national ID card and cell phone number. They demanded that she sign and fingerprint paperwork, but she firmly refused. They went to Ms. Qi’s son’s home, and used the same threats, inducements, and deceptions to force her son to sign and press his fingerprints on her behalf.
Wang Yi, head of the Kaiyuan City Domestic Security Division, ordered residential police officer and judicial office personnel to harass Ms. Yin Wenjuan in July 2020. They told Ms. Yin to write the three statements.
Wang stopped paying Ms. Yin’s pension in August 2020, on the grounds that she had served a prison sentence.
Ms. Liu Meiling, in her 70s, in Dongxihu District, lived alone. People have not seen her since Wuhan was locked down due to the pandemic in January 2020. Some fellow practitioners went to her home and knocked on the door many times, but no one answered. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Xu Tao, staff member of the Handian Town Government in the Shuangcheng District, phoned Ms. Gao Yaping on September 16, 2020 and told her to sign the guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong. She refused.
Three people from the Shehong City Procuratorate and the Chengbei Police Station went to Ms. Liu Gaowen’s home on the morning of August 25, 2020 and delivered a notice of indictment.
The Shehong City Court phoned Ms. Liu’s family on September 10 and said that they would send a subpoena to her. Her case was brought to the Shehong City Court, and she is now facing trial.
Ms. Liu and Ms. Wang Xuezhen were arrested by officers from the Shehong County State Security Division on May 12, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were interrogated. Both practitioners were taken to the Pengxi County Detention Center that afternoon.
During the physical examination, it was found that Ms. Liu’s blood pressure exceeded 200. After rechecking twice, her blood pressure still exceeded 200. The detention center refused to accept her. She was brought back home by her family. Ms. Wang is being held in the Pengxi County Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Jinfeng, 62, in Yanjiao Town, was arrested by officers from the Xicheng Police Station on September 9, 2020. Her home in the Chaobairenjia Residential Community was ransacked, and a computer, a printer, and other belongings were confiscated. She is being held in the Sanhe city Detention Center.
Recently, under the control of the Ningxia Autonomous Region’s Political and Legal Affairs Committee, personnel at various levels in Yinchuan City’s Political and Legal Affairs Committees, Domestic Security Divisions, police departments, police stations, and neighborhood committees have harassed practitioners on a large scale and demanded they give up practicing Falun Gong.
An Peng, a residential police officer from the Lingwu Farm Police Station, Yang Xiaoling, neighborhood committee official, and Yan Xuebing, from the Comprehensive Stability Maintenance Center, went to the homes of Ms. Fang Yuqin, Ms. Wu Xiaoying, Ms. Yu Guifang, Ms. Wang Shuxian, and Ms. Feng Shufang in Lingwu Farm on September 10, 2020. They harassed, coerced, and tried to trick practitioners into signing guarantee statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Practitioners were threatened and told that if they did not sign, their children would not be allowed to go to school, their wages would be withheld, and those living on minimum allowances would have their only source of income cut off.
Practitioners refused to sign. Officials threatened that when higher authorities sent people to come after them, they would not only have to sign, but would also be sent to jail.
On September 14th, this group went to the homes of the above-mentioned practitioners again, and intimidated and threatened them. They said that this campaign was carried out nationwide, and if the practitioners did not sign, they would return.
Ms. Zheng Guixiang was given a ten-month prison term and fined 2,000 yuan by the Zhen’an District Court.
The court notified her family, on September 16, 2020, that Ms. Zheng would be released from the Tangchi Detention Center on September 19.
Ms. Zheng was arrested by officers from the Taiping Police Station, Zhen’an District, on November 20, 2019, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She has been held in the Tangchi Detention Center.
Ma Rongzhe, Jishu Sub-district Committee staff member, phoned Ms. Tao Yuqing’s husband, on September 10, 2020, and told him to tell Ms. Tao to go to a brainwashing center. He refused to cooperate.
Ms. Li Xiuying was reported to the police, and was arrested by officers from the High-tech Industrial Park Police Department on July 10, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was officially arrested by the Yanjiang District Primary Procuratorate on August 17.
The police department made numerous phone calls to ask about practitioners who had been in contact with Ms. Li, in order to arrest these other practitioners.
Ms. Lin Qiupeng from Changning District was arrested, and her case was turned over to the Changning District Procuratorate on September 4, 2020.
Mr. Zheng Ping from the Pudong New Area is still being held in the Pudong New Area Detention Center. His case was brought to the Fengxian District Court.
Three people including Yang, director of Longshan Residential Community, and Long Mengxiu, residential police officer, went to Ms. Zhang Yongkun’s home on September 8, 2020, under the guise of conducting a household survey. They rummaged through things and took photos of her home.
They demanded that Ms. Zhang write the “five statements” renouncing Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang refused to cooperate. They then threatened that if she did not write the statements, she would be taken to a brainwashing center. In the end, they took away photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a dozen or so Falun Dafa books, and six audio players.
Ms. Wang Hong in the Beibei District was reported to the police and arrested at a farmers market around July 6, 2020. Officers from the Beibei District Police Department and the Caijia Police Station ransacked her home, and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Dafa books, weekly publications, an audio player, memory cards, cash, and a cell phone. Ms. Wang was released that evening.
Ms. Jiang Yurong from Qianquzhuang Village, Kaiping District, was arrested and her home was ransacked on August 11, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released that afternoon.
Three people including Ouyang Zhancun from the Ciyutuo Town Police Station, Luanzhou City, went to Ms. Li Muzhen’s home on the morning of September 16, 2020. They demanded she sign a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. They also asked for her phone number. She refused to cooperate.
They also went to Ms. Li Muhua’s home, asked for her phone number, and asked if she still practiced Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu Guolan was arrested in the Changping District a few days ago.
Ms. Tan Chuanhong was recorded by a video surveillance camera writing, “Falun Dafa is good!” on June 29, 2020. Over 30 people from the Dongnan Police Station broke into her home and ransacked the place on the afternoon of July 21. They confiscated two Falun Dafa books and a SIM card.
Ms. Tan was interrogated for 24 hours at the police station. She was taken to the Dazhou City Detention Center on the afternoon of July 22. She was placed in quarantine for 14 days before being taken to a detention cell. She was released on bail on August 22.
When the police ransacked her home and arrested her, her daughter was at home and was traumatized. After Ms. Tan returned home, because her daughter was threatened and intimidated by the police and a lawyer, she attacked her mother and scratched her. As a result, Ms. Tan’s entire body was bruised and turned purple.
Her daughter was in great distress and thought about killing herself. When she attempted to jump from the sixth floor Ms. Tan grabbed her arm in time to stop her from committing suicide.
Ms. Tan’s daughter who just started working, paid nearly 20,000 yuan to hire a lawyer to rescue her mother. She also paid an additional 5,000 yuan deposit for her bail. Ms. Tan’s daughter insisted that her parents divorce, which they did.
Qu Yuhui, director of the Hanxin Residential Community, Xinghai Sub-district, phoned Ms. Zhou Weirong’s husband and son on August 24, 2020. They demanded that Ms. Zhou write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. The family did not cooperate.
Three or four officers led by Liu Jiang, director of the Xinghai Police Station, knocked on Ms. Zhou's door at around 10:00 p.m. on September 13.
Personnel from the Jichuan Town Government, officers from the local police station, and village officials went to Ms. Niu Bianbian’s home several times since the beginning of 2020 to harass her. They said they were sent by the Political and Legal Affairs Committees at the county, city, and provincial levels, to come and learn about her situation.
As few as three, and as many as seven or eight people would show up each time. Ms. Niu was out of town, so they instead put pressure on her family members to write statements renouncing Falun Gong on her behalf. They also videotaped her home, and threatened to go to her children’s work units and so on.
Mr. Liu Haijun and his wife Ms. Liu Chunlian, from the Fuyang City Real Estate Bureau, were arrested at home by Discipline Inspection Commission personnel on the evening of August 28, 2020. They were held in the Fuyang City Hotel.
Ms. Lu Lihua, 71, in Tongzhou District, will be tried at the Chongchuan Court on the morning of September 22, 2020.
Ms. Lu was arrested on September 18, 2019, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released on bail and has been awaiting trial for one year. The term has now expired.
Ms. Lu said that she did not commit any crime, and refused to sign the expiry letter of bail pending trial. On the grounds of her refusal to sign the expiry letter, the Chongchuan Court will place her on trial on September 22, 2020.
Wu Junting, an officer from Linyuan No. 4 Central Police Station, phoned Ms. Zhao Zhifeng’s husband at noon on September 15, 2020, and told his wife to go to the police station to fill out and sign a form. The officer said that she would then be free to practice Falun Gong and no one would care about it. Her husband believed the officer and insisted that Ms. Zhao go to the police station to sign. When she refused to go, her husband beat and scolded her.
Ms. Lei Zhifen was arrested at Yongxing Town, Meitan County, on September 4, 2020.
An officer from the Xinhe Police Station, the head of Hailin Town, an official from the town, and the Yong’an Village Party Secretary went to Ms. Gao Yuxia’s home on the afternoon of September 16, 2020. They told her to fill out a form of “transformation” and threatened to arrest her if she refused. Ms. Gao refused. They took a copy of the book, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party from her desk, and told her husband to sign it.
Ms. Liu Fengrong from Madianzi Town, Lixin County, was arrested and taken to the Bozhou City Brainwashing Center on September 10, 2020. She has not returned.
Ms. Zhao Chunling from Taishitun Town was followed and arrested when she was talking to people about Falun Gong at a local farmers market on the morning of September 12, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Chaoyang District Detention Center the following day. The detention center refused to admit her due to high blood pressure. She returned home that day.
Over a dozen people from the Beimen Residential Committee in the Pingqiao Residential Community of Xiaohe District, the Pingqiao Government Office, and the Pingqiao Police Station broke into Ms. Ying Suzhi’s home with a master key and ransacked the place on the morning of August 15, 2020. They confiscated three copies of Zhuan Falun and some keepsakes. Ms. Ying, in her 80s, was arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation. The police phoned her son and told him to go there, and forced him to sign the guarantee statement. Ms. Ying was then released.
Ms. Peng Dingrong, in her 60s, is a retired worker of the subsidiary plant of the Xiaohe Bearing Factory. She was harassed twice since late April 2020 by personnel from the Guojixincheng Residential Committee and Qingpu Residential Community, Huaxi District.
She later went to the residential committee to get a health certificate. Huang Jincui, director of the committee, phoned the Huanghe Police Station, which sent people to the committee office to threaten her.
After Ms. Peng exposed the incident on the Minghui website, the committee officials contacted her about it. She disappeared shortly afterwards, and her whereabouts have been unknown for more than a month.
Officers from the Longwangtang Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Cui’s non-practitioner daughter on the morning of September 16, 2020. They arrested Ms. Zhang that afternoon.
Ms. Zhang’s paralyzed husband and elderly mother-in-law (in her 80s), who rely on her are now left with no one to care for them.
Ms. Lou Qinnan from the Xiaoshan District will be tried at the No. 4 Criminal Tribunal Courtroom in the Xiaoshan District Court, in the Hongshiwuxian area, on the morning of September 18, 2020.
Ms. Yin Min in the Fenghuangmingcheng area and two other practitioners were arrested when they distributed Falun Gong materials on September 11, 2020. The other two practitioners were released the following day. Ms. Yin was taken to the Hefei Detention Center on September 15.
Ms. Fang in the Huanglong Residential Community, Gucheng Sub-district, was recently harassed at home by residential community personnel. The personnel demanded that she sign paperwork, and demanded that her family persuade her to give up Falun Gong.
Five or six people from the Yuanjiang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Yuanjiang City Police Department, and the Huangmaozhou Police Station brought a search warrant and broke into the physics laboratory where Ms. Luo Jinhong, a physics teacher at Yuanjiang No. 3 Middle School, works. They then broke into her home and ransacked the place. They confiscated three printers and 50,000 yuan in cash.
Ms. Luo was taken to the Yuanjiang Domestic Security Division that day. She is being held in the Yiyang Women's Detention Center.
Mr. Gao Peng in the Jiaoshihuayuan Residential Community, Dongfeng New Village, High-tech Zone in Sartu District, was arrested by officers from the High-tech Zone Police Department when he distributed Falun Gong materials in the residential community on the evening of September 10, 2020. He is being held in the Taikang Detention Center.
Ms. He Qian was tried and sentenced to three years in prison by the Bazhou District Court on the afternoon of July 16, 2020. Two days before the hearing, the court repeatedly changed the time and location.
Mr. Wu Pochen was arrested by local State Security officers on the evening of September 10, 2020, for talking to a junior high school student about Falun Gong and giving the student materials about Falun Gong. The student called the police.
Mr. Wu’s home was ransacked, and all his Falun Dafa books, printed materials, and a computer were confiscated.
