(Minghui.org) Having spent 15 years of his prime incarcerated for his faith in Falun Gong, a 46-year-old man was recently sentenced to another three years, also for his faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since July 1999.
Mr. Liu Qingliang, a Liaocheng City, Shandong Province resident, was arrested on May 8, 2020, after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. His home was ransacked. He was taken to the Dezhou City Detention Center the next day.
On October 28, 2020, Mr. Liu was tried by the Qihe County Court through a video conference. His family wasn’t allowed to attend his hearing. His lawyer entered a not-guilty plea for him. The judge sentenced him to three years at the end of the trial.
Mr. Liu’s latest sentence came shortly after he was released from serving a 12-year term for making informational materials about Falun Gong. He was arrested on July 6, 2008, while he was in Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province. The police interrogated and tortured him while he was detained at Yuyao Detention Center. He was sentenced to 12 years at the Zhejiang Province No.4 Prison by the Yuyao City Court on June 2, 2009.
In addition to the two prison terms, Mr. Liu was given three years in a forced labor camp in 2000. The police beat him with a rubber club and slapped his head with their shoes. He was heavily injured and unable to walk.
