(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhang Fenglan was tried in the Yilan County Court on December 24, 2020. The verdict was announced on December 29, 2020. She was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and fined 15,000 yuan. Ms. Zhang has filed an appeal.
Ms. Liu Hui was arrested at home by Li Bing from the Daowei District Police Department on September 22, 2020. Her case has been transferred from the procuratorate office to the court.
Mr. Cheng Defu, 75, is a veteran and a Falun Gong practitioner. He was recently arrested and detained in the Dianjiang County Detention Center. On December 3, 2020, he was told that he would be sentenced to five or more years in prison if he refused to sign the guarantee statement; or he could be sentenced to three years or less with possible probation or serve the sentence outside prison if he signed the statement. Mr. Cheng refused the offer. His hearing was scheduled in the Dianjiang County Court on January 13, 2021.
Ms. Cheng Guifang was harassed at her sewing shop on November 17, 2020. People from the Pingtan Sub-district Office in the Mining District and from the Dongshan Community came to her shop and videotaped it. Ms. Cheng stopped them. Local police officers began frequently coming to her shop, threatening to close it.
The Zero-out Campaign has been going on in Huachuan County, led by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s Political and Legal Affairs Committee. Many practitioners have been harassed.
Some officials from the Huanchuan County Culture Bureau came to harass Mr. Yang Qinngquan in December 2020. Since Mr. Yang was not at home, they harassed his daughter and forced her to sign the three statements on her father's behalf. They also wanted Mr. Yang’s photos or video clips.
Ms. Feng Ruijuan lives in the Gangxi Residential District, Dagang Oil Field. She has been arrested and detained twice for clarifying the truth. During the CCP’s Zero-out Campaign, she has been harassed many times. Her adult child has been threatened and told he would lose his job if she did not cooperate. Ms. Feng firmly refused to sign the three statements.
Ms. Lu Yunxia, 80, was seen by surveillance cameras on December 3, 2020, when she distributed truth-clarifying materials. Four officers from the Anqing Road Police Station in Luyang District including Huang, head of the police station, came to Ms. Lu’s home. Even though they did not find any materials about Falun Gong, they took Ms. Lu to the police station for interrogation. She was released around 10 p.m. that evening. The next day, she was called to the Shuanggang Police Station which is in charge of her area, for inquiry.
Sun Jing (gender unknown) lives in Wenqian Town, Huancui District and owns a factory. On January 6, 2021, just after Sun Jing arrived at work, a group of officers from the Wenquan Town Police Station, the district police department and the municipal police department, broke into the factory area and the worker’s living area. They ransacked the areas and took away Dafa books, computers, printers, etc. All the workers were intimidated and not allowed to move freely. They were followed even when they went to the restroom or ate. All the workers’ cell phones were confiscated and they were not allowed to answer any calls.
Sun Jing, Sun’s elder sister (non-practitioner), Li, a male practitioner, and a worker were arrested. Their homes were ransacked. The worker was taken to the police station and was released around 8 a.m., that evening.
A group of police officers broke the door lock and forcefully entered Ms. Song Jianhua’s home in Hushan Community, Wenquan Town of Huancui District on the afternoon of January 8, 2021. Ms. Song refused to cooperate and was handcuffed while they ransacked her home. They took away Dafa books and printing equipment. Since Ms. Song showed symptoms of a severe health condition, the police did not take her away. Instead they took her eldest daughter (non-practitioner) to the local police station for questioning.
Ms. Chen Jie was arrested at home on December 22, 2020. A group of officers from the Huining County Police Station, Sifang Township Police Station, Baiyuan Township Police Station and Anning District Police Department in Lanzhou City, sawed open her door and broke into her room. She was taken to the Baiyin City Detention Center. It is learned that she was taken from the Baiyin City Detention Center by officers from the Huining County Domestic Security Division on January 7, 2021.
Ms. Jiang Yiqiong, 67, lives in the Chengnan Community, Jingyang District. Her husband received a harassment call from the Xiangshangang Sub-district Office on January 6, 2021. The caller told her husband to sign the guarantee statement on his wife's behalf so that her name would be removed from the list—as part of the Zero-out Campaign. Her husband refused to sign.
Ms. Li Guiling was arrested by officers from the Guigu Police Station in Gaoxin District at noon on January 6, 2021.
Mr. Lu Chunshan received a harassment call from the Jiangyang Police Station on December 4, 2020, asking for his home address. Mr. Lu was called to the office of Li Zhi, head of the Vehicle Management Office on December 7, 2020. Peng Zhiqiang from the Jiangyang Police Station and Duan Yuqing from the Huayan Sub-district Office were waiting for him there. They showed him the government document about the Zero-out Campaign and told Mr. Lu to sign the three statements. He refused.
Mr. Lu Chunshan’s son was harassed at his workplace on December 23, 2020. Two people from the Jiangyang Police Station and the Huayan Sub-district Office came and told him to advise his father to sign the three statements, which he refused.
Mr. Wang Shilian was harassed at home on December 21, 2020, by four persons from the Xinhua Street Sub-district Office. They told him to sign the three statements.
Several practitioners’ family members were called to a meeting with Wan Xinming, director of Pingchang County Political and Legal Affair Committee, on December 24, 2020. Wan Xinming warned the family members, “Do not practice Falun Gong! Whoever practices Falun Gong, will lose their job or have their salaries reduced.”
Ms. Huang Yinglian works in the Daya Middle School, Dianbai District. The principal received orders from higher authorities on December 9, 2020, ordering Ms. Huang to sign the three statements. Ms. Huang refused.
Ms. Huang was harassed at the school on December 21, 2020. Lin Ruizhen, deputy of Lintou Town party committee, Li Dakui, deputy of the town government, and two police officers Wu Bo and Xu Maoting came to the school and pressured Ms. Huang to sign the three statements.
Ms. Huang was harassed again at the school on December 28, 2020. Lin Ruiqiang, deputy of Dianbai District Education Bureau and three others came to talk to Ms. Huang. They threatened to expel her and even send her to jail if she refused to sign the three statements. Now Ms. Huang may lose her job.
Ms. Ai Jinxia was arrested by officers from the Dongnan Police Station on January 7, 2021.
Mr. Chang Shouxuan and his wife live in Niguantun Village, Baoguantun Town, Nanpi County. They were harassed at home by township officials and village officials, led by Wang Jianfa, deputy of the township government, on January 8, 2020. The couple was questioned and asked whether they still practiced Falun Gong. The township staff members tried to videotape their home. Mr. Chang realized what they were doing and stopped them.
