(Minghui.org) A Zhoukou City, Henan Province resident was sentenced to five years by the Chuanhui District Court in October 2020 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xu Fengmei, in her 60s, was arrested at home on July 17, 2020 for raising awareness about the persecution. The police ransacked her residence and detained her at the Zhoukou Detention Center. It’s not clear whether she has been taken to prison at the time of writing.
This is not the first time that Ms. Xu has been targeted for her faith. Following a prior arrest on August 1, 2008, the police tied her to a tiger bench and interrogated her. Officers stabbed her back with a sharp needle and slapped her in the face. They also kicked her, beat her, and rolled a metal stick over her legs. She was later given one year of forced labor.
Some time after she was released, Ms. Xu was hit by a car while riding an electric motorcycle. She was thrown into the air and fell hard on the ground. A big area on her calf was abraded and the bone was exposed. Ms. Xu didn’t hold the driver accountable and let him go. Upon returning home, she did the Falun Gong exercises and her leg soon healed. This experience made her even more determined to keep practicing and share the goodness of Falun Gong with people.
