(Minghui.org) Four Neijiang City, Sichuan Province residents were sentenced by the Dongxing District Court on September 30, 2021 for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. He Li, 57, was sentenced to seven years.Ms. Meng Kunlun, in her 70s, was sentenced to five years.Ms. Fu Tianlu, also in her 70s, was sentenced to three year and a half years.Ms. Yu Ping, in her 50s, was sentenced to three years.
All four practitioners were also fined by the court and some reportedly have had their pensions suspended.
The practitioners were arrested by officers of the Dongxing District Police Station on October 26, 2020. As Ms. Meng’s third daughter, a cancer patient, argued with the police while they raided their home, she was also arrested and detained for a day. She was terrified by the incident and her health deteriorated quickly afterwards. She passed away around September 2021.
Ms. Meng, Ms. Yu and Ms. Fu were first held at the Weiyuan Detention Center and later transferred to the Neijiang City Detention Center. Ms. He was released on bail after two months of detention, but was arrested again three months later.
Past Persecution of Ms. He
Ms. He used to work for the Neijiang City Forging Plant. She contracted spinal tuberculosis at age three and suffered muscular atrophy of her right hand and foot. After taking up Falun Gong in October 1998, the muscles in her right hand and feet regenerated and her hunchback was also straightened.
Ms. He went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in May 2000 and was arrested. She was detained at the Neijiang City Detention Center for a month and fined 5,000 yuan. She returned to Beijing months later and was arrested again and given two years of forced labor.
Because of delivering Falun Gong informational materials to other practitioners, she was arrested again in June 2002 and secretly sentenced to eight years by the Neijiang City Intermediate Court. While serving time at the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison, she was often held in solitary confinement, forced to stand for long hours, or subjected to other corporal punishment.
