(Minghui.org) A 78-year-old Dandong City, Liaoning Province resident was sentenced to four months in late January 2021 for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Bai Jinfang was twice reported for talking to people about Falun Gong, on April 2 and 12, 2020, respectively. The police followed her and took pictures of her.
Ms. Bai was arrested on January 13, 2021 and made to stand trial at Zhen’an District Court on January 28. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. The judge initially agreed to acquit her. The police officer in charge of her case opposed the decision and said she is a “stubborn Falun Gong.” The judge ended up sentencing her to four months with a 2,000 yuan fine.
Ms. Bai is currently held at the Dandong Detention Center. Her family tried to deliver some cash and clothes for her, but was turned away by the guards.
