(Minghui.org) A physician in Longde County, Ningxia Province was secretly sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Dr. Chen Shuqin, 57, suddenly went missing in mid-June 2020. Her family later found out that she had been arrested and held at the Guyuan City Detention Center. The Longde County Procuratorate approved her arrest on June 22.
Her family recently confirmed that she was admitted to the Ningxia Women’s Prison, but the details about her case are unclear.
Dr. Chen was previously arrested three months ago, on March 7, by officers of the Chengguan Police Station after being reported by a person to whom she had handed some informational materials about Falun Gong.
Wang Shengqiang, an officer of the Longde Domestic Security Office, ransacked Dr. Chen’s home and her office. Her Falun Gong books, laptop and other personal belongings were confiscated.
Wang then brought Dr. Chen to the Guyuan City Detention Center, but the guards refused to admit her. The police then released Dr. Chen on bail, only to secretly arrest her again three months later.
This isn’t the first time that Dr. Chen has been sentenced for her faith. She was previously sentenced to four years in June 2010 by the Longde County Court, following her arrest on December 7, 2009. She was tortured throughout her detention at the Guyuan City Detention Center, Kongtongshan Detention Center and Yinchuan Women’s Prison.
Dr. Chen was arrested again and detained for 15 days in 2015 for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese communist regime who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong.
She was detained for one day following another arrest in July 2016.
