(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently confirmed that a Taiyuan City, Jiangxi Province resident has been taken to the Jinzhong City Women’s Prison to serve a five-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been targeted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
Ms. Ji Guorong was arrested on December 14, 2021 after being reported by some villagers for talking to them about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and put her under criminal detention at the Taiyuan City No. 3 Detention Center. She was transferred to the Gujiao City No. 4 Women’s Detention Center after her arrest was approved on December 28. Her family was kept in the dark of when she was tried and sentenced.
Ms. Ji, 68, took up Falun Gong in 1996. She changed from being very competitive to being calm and considerate. Many of her ailments, including stomach problems, headaches, heart problems and arthritis, all disappeared.
Living by Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, she stopped taking gifts in her procurement role at work.
After the persecution began, she was given two one-year labor camp terms, in 2001 and 2008, respectively, for upholding her faith. Her four siblings were also persecuted for their shared faith. Their mother was traumatized by the persecution of her children and passed away at age 82 in July 2008, months after the last police harassment.
In July 2015, Ms. Ji filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party who ordered the persecution. She was arrested in October that year and detained for ten days. The police harassed her two more times, first on August 6, 2017 and then on August 14, 2018.
According to information collected by Minghui.org, at least 725 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Taiyuan City between 1999 and 2019. Forty-nine practitioners died as a result of the persecution, five became disabled and four suffered mental disorders. Another 143 practitioners were sentenced to prison and 80 practitioners given labor camp terms. The longest prison term was 11 years and the oldest practitioner was 81.
