(Minghui.org) A relative of mine was a police director when the persecution of Falun Dafa started in 1999. He is a quiet but kind person with a strong sense of justice. He knew that Dafa was being persecuted and he always tried his best to help the practitioners.
One time, the police department attempted to send a practitioner to a forced labor camp. My relative reviewed the case and said that they didn’t have enough evidence to justify the labor camp term and released the practitioner without any condition.
When we began to encourage people to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) years later, he immediately agreed.
Because of his kind heart, he was promoted at work and survived a major car accident a few years ago.
It was a snowy day, and he was on his way of town on a case. Just as he was planning to stop for a break, a trailer truck hit him from behind and pushed his car forward more than ten meters. While the car was written off, he wasn’t injured at all. He knew Dafa’s Master Li has protected him.
His son also quit the CCP. The boy was accepted by a prestigious college and landed his dream job after graduation.
My next-door neighbor was a team captain at a local labor camp before she retired. There was a period of time when at least 500 practitioners were detained in that labor camp. While many guards and inmates frequently beat and verbally abused the practitioners, my neighbor helped the practitioners as much as she could.
Before a practitioner’s 66th birthday, her son asked to take her home for two days to celebrate her birthday. Nothing like that had ever been done before. But my neighbor was touched by the son’s devotion, and she approved his request.
Another practitioner contracted Hepatitis B in the labor camp. When his mother demanded the labor camp release him for medical treatment, my neighbor helped to speed up the process.
Sometimes she helped the practitioners’ families to deliver clothes and food to them or arranged their family visits when the labor camp administration had denied the practitioners’ visitation rights because they refused to renounce Dafa.
There is a saying in Chinese culture that the older generation accumulates virtue for their descendants by doing good deeds. And I believe that’s exactly what happened to her family.
One day last summer, my neighbor’s seven-year-old grandson was playing in the carport and accidentally locked himself in the trunk of the car. He was scared and screamed for help, but no one heard him. He kicked and kicked inside the trunk, but no one came. Just then, my daughter came to visit me and heard the sound he was making, but figured it was someone in the neighborhood repairing their car, so she came inside.
About an hour later, she was getting ready to leave when my husband returned home. The three of us were chatting outside and heard the knocking sound again. My husband thought to check the carport and pinpointed from which car the sound was coming from. We realized it was my neighbor’s car, called her, and the boy was rescued. By then, he was soaked in sweat and too weak to talk.
My neighbor said to me, “That was really scary. If you hadn’t heard him, I’m afraid I would have lost my grandson.”
