(Minghui.org) When we clarify the truth to law enforcement agencies, the procuratorate, and the courts via writing letters or face-to-face discussion, we are usually mindful to cover the basic facts of the Chinese Communist Party’s illegal persecution of Falun Dafa. But we often neglect to expose the brutal torture of Falun Dafa practitioners illegally detained at various detention centers and prisons.
Many police officers, prosecutors, and judges are not aware of the torture and they just numbly participate in the persecution. If they knew the degree of torture experienced by practitioners in detention, they may have reservations about arresting, indicting, or sentencing Dafa practitioners as many of them probably do not want to be accomplices to evil.
Below are my two personal experiences of clarifying the truth to police officers and judges and it has worked well in alleviating the persecution and rescuing practitioners.
As I pay more attention to Master Li’s (the founder of Falun Dafa) teachings on exposing the persecution, I remember to do so when encountering persecution and am able to save those that participate in the persecution.
Once, several police officers from the district Public Security Bureau ransacked my house. Two of them were the police directors. I clarified the truth to them while sending forth righteous thoughts as the home raid was going on.
The two police directors stopped what they were doing and listened to me. I told them the basic facts. I also said that when I was previously sentenced to three years, the guards in one prison instigated the inmates to hit me and deprive me of sleep in an attempt to transform me. They took turns watching and beating me until I was crouching over at 90 degrees and fell to the ground, my head striking the concrete floor.
The two police directors were shocked upon hearing this. Their surprise astonished me at the time. They asked, “You were sentenced?” I said yes. They seemed to be thinking about something and said they would check my case again after returning to the office.
Later, I was taken to the police station and detained at the detention center for over 10 days before being released. Though the persecution didn’t disintegrate completely, it didn’t cause any serious consequences this time. And I did feel that clarifying the truth and sending forth righteous thoughts to negate the persecution made a difference.
A fellow practitioner in our group was arrested and we tried to rescue her. She was later sentenced to more than two years. We later learned that it was the Intermediate Court that issued orders for her to be taken to prison. We then urged the practitioner’s family members to write a letter to the presiding judge and another supervisor at the Intermediate Court, asking them not to send the practitioner to prison.
I knew that if the letter was filled with ordinary people’s content and not based on the Fa, it would not have any effect. I discussed with other practitioners and they suggested writing about how the prison persecuted Dafa practitioners. I felt this was a good idea as it conformed to the Fa principles of exposing the persecution. We gave an example of how another local practitioner was tortured to death in prison and her child suffered a mental breakdown because of that.
We also wrote that the practitioner we were trying to rescue would very likely face similar torture should she be imprisoned.
After the letter was sent, the practitioner’s family members received a call from the Intermediate Court. Both the judge and the supervisor said they had received the letter and would forward the letter to the department in charge of the case. Later, the family members received another call from that department, informing them that the letter has been received and they would try their best to help and not send the practitioner to prison.
We were all very emotional hearing this and also paid attention to sending forth righteous thoughts for the practitioner. Some fellow practitioners said they usually would not think of preventing the already-sentenced practitioner from being sent to prison; others were surprised to see that the judges may choose not to blindly follow the persecution policy once they learned how badly practitioners are tortured in prison.
I was asked by my local practitioners to write this article as a reference for other practitioners: tell those perpetrators about the degree of the persecution and they will not casually act as an accomplice to evil.
Lastly, I quote Master’s Fa lecture:
“Exposing the wicked policemen and bad persons and publicizing their evil deeds is extremely effective at shocking and restraining those irrational, wicked people. At the same time, by clarifying the facts to the people on a local level it most directly exposes, and generates public awareness of, the wicked persecution. It is also a great way to save the people who have been poisoned and deceived by the lies. I hope all Dafa disciples and new students in mainland China will do this well.” (“Comment on a Student’s Article,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress III)
Above is my personal understanding.
