(Minghui.org) The authorities carried out a mass arrest of Falun Dafa practitioners in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, on February 25, 2012. Mr. Zheng Xiangxing was seized and eventually sentenced to ten years in prison.
Two months after Mr. Zheng was transferred to Baoding Prison, the guards put a bag over his head and repeatedly bashed it with batons to try to force him to renounce his faith in Falun Dafa. The surveillance video showed that, after the beating, he went to the bathroom, slid down the wall, collapsed to the floor, and was unconscious.
Mr. Zheng was taken to a hospital on October 27, 2012. According to the doctor, his pupils were dilated and he was in a coma. A CT scan showed that his left temporal bone was fractured and there were contusions on both sides of his brain. He also had a severe brain hemorrhage. The doctor who operated on him said that, when he opened the skull, parts of his brain had been smashed and brain matter and blood oozed out. The doctor removed about 10 cm of skull on each side of his head as well as some tissue in the areas of the brain having to do with language, memory, and vision.
He did not regain consciousness after the operation. When his family asked to what extent he would recover, if ever, the doctor said, “ Mr. Zheng will be deaf and blind. He will not be able to think, or remember anything. If he lives, he won’t be able to take care of himself because parts of his brain were removed.”

Despite Mr. Zheng’s dire condition and the fact that he was unable to care for himself, the authorities held him in prison for the next 9 years and 10 months to serve the full term.
When he was released on February 24, 2022, he was still unresponsive and had to be fed.
Several practitioners visited Mr. Zheng on September 27, 2023, about a year and a half after he was released. To their surprise, Mr. Zheng’s complexion was rosy. He could walk, use the bathroom, talk, eat, and get himself something to drink on his own. He regained partial vision and could see large objects. He also recovered the ability to think but not his memory, which is coming back slowly.
His wife told practitioners, “My father did not survive his brain surgery. My husband lost parts of his skull and had parts of his brain tissue removed. He not only survived but, for the most part, is now able to care for himself. This is all thanks to Falun Dafa’s Master.”
Mr. Zheng reads the Falun Dafa teachings every day. His family moved to another town and live in a quiet place. People who’ve heard about his amazing recovery say that it’s truly a miracle.
