Over 10 years ago, a fellow practitioner was framed by the village Party secretary. Several fellow practitioners and I went to the secretary’s home and tried to reason with him. However, he reported us to the police. The domestic security office deployed a large number of police officers. More than a dozen armed officers arrested me and confiscated a large amount of Falun Dafa informational materials from my home. They were so excited, as if they had completed a major task and even held a celebration party. They believed that I would be given a heavy prison sentence.
I was held at the police station’s interrogation room in the evening. I was tied to the chair, but my hands were free. There were some Falun Dafa materials in my pocket. When a 610 Office director came to check on me, I took out the materials and placed them into his pocket. I said, “We have talked many times in the past. I see you as a friend. Please read these materials or give them to others.”
He was caught off guard, and didn’t know what to do for a second. He probably never expected that someone would dare to give him Falun Dafa materials in the police station. He froze for a while and then walked out without telling others about the materials.
After I was sent to a detention center, an inmate in my cell said that a practitioner in a similar situation was sentenced to seven years. I didn’t worry about that. All I thought about was how to break through the persecution.
Thirty days later, a prosecutor came to talk to me. I said to him, “I can tell that you are an experienced prosecutor. You must know the law better than ordinary people like me. I know that you will indict me with the charge of ‘undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,’ which has always been used to sentence Falun Dafa practitioners. But please show me the legal document that declares Falun Dafa as a cult. If you can’t do that, I won’t cooperate with you.”
He replied with great confidence, “The persecution has been going on for so many years, how can we not have an official legal document?! I'll bring it to you next week.”
When he came back a week later, he said, “I’m sorry. I can’t find such a legal document.”
“I knew you wouldn’t find it because there has never been any law that criminalizes Falun Dafa. Well, let’s talk about the ‘undermining law enforcement’ part. I kept the materials at my home, so how could I have undermined law enforcement with those materials? Which law was undermined by me?”
I kept talking for 40 minutes and he didn’t interrupt me. Before he left, I asked him, “How are you going to handle my case?” He said, “Your case is out of our responsibility.” Upon returning, he dismissed the police’s request to approve my arrest. The police were upset that I had escaped again.
A couple of years ago, something similar happened again.
It was around May 13, the annual World Falun Dafa Day. A few practitioners from a nearby county joined us for group Fa study and sharing. After dinner, I brought them to the group Fa study place.
When we were waiting for the elevator, the security guard noticed us. He walked up and said, “You must be Falun Dafa practitioners. We were told that you would have gatherings around May 13. Come with me to the security office.”
I stepped forward and said, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I’ll go with you.” The guard called the police as he walked. When he was almost at the office, I ran away.
I learned that some practitioners were still trapped inside. I couldn’t leave them alone. I called my daughter for help. She drove me to the residence area, and I asked several practitioners hiding behind the bushes to get into the car. Unfortunately, a few others were still arrested and taken to the police station.
The police took the case very seriously. The newly-appointed director of the domestic security office attempted to make a big case out of it and claim credit from it. I heard he was trying to identify every practitioner who entered that residential area that day by poring through surveillance camera footage. Practitioners suggested that I find a place to hide, but I didn’t want to. I believe in Master’s words,
“...if your mind can be imperturbable there will be nothing you can’t handle.”(“Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s),” The Essentials of Diligent Progress II)
I wrote a letter to the domestic security office director, explaining what Falun Dafa is and why the persecution was illegal. Then I sent forth righteous thoughts the whole night to eliminate evil factors that were undermining Dafa and persecuting practitioners. A line from Master’s poem “Don’t Be Sad” in Hong Yin II appeared in my mind, “...As you get rid of human mentality, evil is naturally defeated.” I realized that I must have had some attachments that I hadn’t found yet.
Soon, the power of righteous thoughts emerged. The director suddenly developed facial paralysis with a crooked mouth. His predecessor told him that it must be karmic retribution for joining the persecution. He brought him to a practitioner’s clinic for treatment. The practitioner clarified the truth to him. He said, “I wish I had known this earlier.” Later he applied for another job and left the domestic security office.
Clarifying the Truth to Police Officers
I heard that police officer Meng was diagnosed with liver cancer. He went to a famous hospital in Beijing for treatment, but the doctor said it was too late and recommended hospice care at home.
Meng was in his 30s and had actively participated in the persecution to seek career advancement. He had also arrested me, but I didn’t blame him and hoped that he could recover soon. I decided to visit him and clarify the truth to him directly, despite the danger of being arrested.
When I went to his home, the room was full of police officers who had come to say goodbye to him. I was not scared, but walked right in. Meng took me to his bedroom and closed the door for a private conversation. I tried to persuade him to turn to Falun Dafa for help and confess his wrongdoing in persecuting the practitioners. But he refused, saying that he didn’t believe in Falun Dafa at all. He died about ten days later.
Another police officer, Yong, who also diagnosed with cancer, was very receptive when another practitioner told him about Falun Dafa. He promised not to participate in the persecution any more and quit the CCP. He not only recovered quickly, but was also promoted at work.
Exposing Jiang Zemin’s Crimes
In 2015, more than 200,000 practitioners filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the CCP, for persecuting Falun Dafa. Not long after I mailed out my complaint, a group of people came to my home, including residential committee staffers and police officers. I told them about Jiang Zemin’s three major crimes: treason, corruption and persecution of Falun Dafa. They listened for a while and then left.
At that moment, I thought of Master’s teaching,
“Human history does not exist for [people] to take being human as its final goal, nor is human history a recreation ground created for the evil to display its viciousness. Mankind’s history was established for the Fa-rectification, and only Dafa disciples are worthy of displaying their glory here.” (“To the 2005 European Experience Sharing Conference,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress III)
In order to help them truly understand Jiang’s major crimes and no longer participate in the persecution, I decided to talk to them directly.
My first stop was the residential committee. I showed the staffers how China used to look on the map and how it was after Jiang sold out a large area of land to Russia. Then I reviewed with them how Jiang ruled the country with corruption and the persecution of Falun Dafa.
After that, I headed to the police station nearby. I walked in and said I was looking for the director. Two officers followed me, looking as if they were ready to arrest me at any time. The director listened to me and asked me to leave after I finished. The two officers were surprised that the director didn’t order my arrest.
Next I went to the domestic security office. After telling the chief about Jiang’s three major crimes, I asked, “How about I help you quit the CCP and its associated organizations?” He excused himself for a meeting and left.
Police Officers Thank Master After Reading “How Humankind Came To Be”
After Master published the two new articles “How Humankind Came To Be” and “Why Save Sentient Beings” in early 2023, some government officers, including police station chiefs and domestic security office directors, found practitioners to share their thoughts with.
A domestic security office director said, “After reading the two articles, I finally understand why Falun Dafa practitioners do not give up their faith after they have been brutally persecuted for more than 20 years. I also understand that Falun Dafa is an upright practice. Master Li (the founder of Falun Dafa) is truly here to save mankind. Master Li is so great! Please convey my greetings to Master Li.”
The director of the city’s judicial bureau was a professor and had been involved in the persecution for many years. He told a practitioner, “After I read Master Li’s articles, my thinking changed greatly. I realized that I had done wrong and regretted it. If you see Master Li one day, please help extend my greetings to him.”
Looking Inward, Cultivating Solidly
Master said:
“Genuinely cultivate Dafa,Only this is great...” (“Obtaining Fa,” Hong Yin)
My wife is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. On several occasions, my wife criticized me harshly in front of others, making me feel very embarrassed. A few times she was so angry with me that she ignored me for the next few days. I was angry and upset. But I still remembered to look inward and try to find how to improve myself. When I apologized to her, I felt that Master removed many bad substances from me.
The 610 Office once spread the word that I was the focus of their surveillance. For a while, some practitioners tried to avoid me out of safety concerns. They stopped coming to my home for Fa study, and also prevented others from coming. When I joined another Fa study group, a coordinator practitioner was unhappy, “Who asked you to come here?!” Being treated like this by fellow practitioners was a big test for me. But I knew I should maintain my xinxing and not argue with them.
Sometimes I was tested with material gain. When my home was demolished, the government gave me more than three million yuan in compensation, which was all claimed by my daughter. My mind couldn’t stay calm and I really wanted to reason with her. After thinking about it, I realized that it was a chance to eliminate my attachment to self-interest, so I calmed myself down and tried not to think about it. When I totally forgot about the compensation, my daughter gave me back the money.
Distributing Falun Dafa Materials Persistently
The local authorities regarded me as a key person and put me under close surveillance. However, it never stopped me from doing the three things well. Over the course of ten years, I persisted in distributing truth-clarifying materials, rain or shine, including during the three-year pandemic lockdown.
Several years ago, there were very few surveillance cameras in public places and it was easy to avoid being captured by cameras when distributing materials. But in recent years, the cameras were almost everywhere. I believe that everything in the world is alive and I said to the cameras in my mind that I hope they won't assist the regime in recording me.
When I go out, I always carry with me materials to give to people. I have accumulated a wealth of experience on where to put the materials so that it’s easy for people to get them, how to prevent the materials from being taken away by janitors, and how to avoid security.
Once I was at a subway station near my daughter’s house. I had a bag full of Falun Dafa materials. The security check suddenly became strict because of a nationally wanted murderer who was arrested at that station. When I was asked to open my bag, I was calm and said to the security guard, “I'm not carrying anything illegal. Go and check others instead.” The guard thus skipped me.
Another time when I was distributing materials in a city, I put a copy into the trunk of an electric bicycle. The bicycle owner saw me and rushed over to question me. She also reported me to the police. But I wasn’t arrested and returned home shortly after.
I ran into the domestic security office and 610 Office directors several times while I was distributing materials. I was not afraid, but instead, I walked up to them, shaking their hands like old friends. Nothing ever happened to me.
On another occasion, a group of government workers and police officers came to my house. I was clarifying the truth to them when a practitioner suddenly came in with a big bag of Falun Dafa materials. She left the bag in my bedroom and then left. A police officer was about to check the bag. At that moment, I was not nervous, but simply raised my voice. Nobody went into the bedroom in the end.
A fellow practitioner told me that once when she was having dinner with the police department director, she clarified the truth to the director and urged the director not to participate in the persecution of Falun Dafa. The director said that they all knew that I was distributing materials every day, but simply ignored it.
My understanding is that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, and as long as I follow Dafa’s teachings and be strict with myself, the police would not dare to persecute me.
