(Minghui.org) Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Can, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, met with Falun Dafa practitioners in his office on December 11, 2023. With a population of about 20 million, Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and the country’s economic, cultural, and historic hub. Dr. Can is responsible for three districts (Esenler, Eyüpsultan and Kağıthane), and is also affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
When he met practitioners from the Turkish Falun Dafa Association, Dr. Can welcomed them with traditional Turkish hospitality and sincerity. Practitioners explained to him what Falun Dafa is and how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been suppressing the peaceful group since 1999.

They explained that although Falun Dafa practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be good citizens, they have been mistreated in China for their belief. The CCP also kills practitioners, removes their organs and sells them for profit.
“Glorifying goodness, tolerance, and compassion and making them dominant in society is the fundamental basis of a healthy social structure,” Dr. Can said after he heard the details about the persecution of Falun Dafa. “Many Turkish thinkers share the common starting point and emphasis of treating people equally and approaching them with tolerance.
“In this context, the Falun Dafa teachings, I believe, has a feature that will make additional contributions to our folk culture and social structure or bring them to the surface and ensure that they are emphasized more. I wish you success,” he added.

When practitioners presented a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main teachings of Falun Dafa, Dr. Can said he was curious about the book and he would definitely read it.
