(Minghui.org) Ms. Xing Ailing and her daughter-in-law, a mother of three, were both sentenced to prison in December 2022 for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Police officers and village officials broke into Ms. Xing Ailing’s home in Linqing City, Shandong Province, on May 13, 2022, and asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. When she said she did, they grabbed her by her hair and arms, pushed her down, handcuffed her, and took her to their police car.
Ms. Xing’s father-in-law, Mr. Pan Lishun, who shares her residence, stood in front of the car and tried to stop the police. Several officers pulled the elderly man, who is nearly 80, aside and drove away.
An hour later, more officers showed up. They scaled the fence and broke in. This time, they handcuffed Mr. Pan and Ms. Xing’s daughter-in-law, Ms. Wang Huayan, who also lives there. Ms. Wang’s three children, aged 8-13, were terrified and burst into tears. The family’s Falun Gong books, printer, computer, generator, and over 10,000 yuan in cash were confiscated.
Mr. Pan was released at around 7 p.m. Ms. Xing and Ms. Wang were held in custody and transferred to the Guan County Detention Center on June 5, 2022.
The Guan County Court sentenced both women to prison in December 2022. Ms. Xing was given four years and fined 10,000 yuan. Ms. Wang received 1.5 years with a 10,000-yuan fine and was allowed to serve time outside of prison.
